SPIRITUAL REALM, PATHS, AND LEYLINES
Humanity has always wondered about the majestic and the mystical. As well as about their afterlife. The Spiritual Realm is a world that covers this, separate from the Physical Realm we all live in and know more about. The Spiritual Realm is non-linear and is full of complications. It may reflect the environment in our world or even the collective consciousness of people. Whatever the case, the Spiritual Realm is full of non-human entities that are not found in any recorded compilation of supernaturals in the Physical Realm. It would be very wise to not dwell in it for long for the safety of many residents of the Physical Realm.
That said, those who do, end up traversing through Paths. Like their name suggests, these Paths are some "established" roads in the Spiritual Realm where people could "safely travel" through with the least amount of exposure to the dangerous creatures around. Many Paths may show up during specific times, some require a specific object to find and pass through, others may have some rough terrains, and many various conditions. Other than providing safety, these Paths are also exploited thanks to the non-linear nature of the Spiritual Realm. Thus meaning a person from the United States could end up in China within half a hour to a few minutes depending on the Path taken. This makes transportation ever more convenient and is the object of every Faction's desires.
Many Paths take up various forms, those familiar to us and many considered indescribable. Whether it be a cave, a mere road on some forest, or even a bunch of floating rock in space serving as platforms. The times to take such Paths is heavily based on moon phases. This does stop many people from exploiting the Paths or even get too familiar with its temporary set directions. Though sacrifices, of course, is what helps catalyze some Paths to appear even when that specific Moon Phase has not come up yet. Even with such payment, this Path is of course, temporary. Thus, requiring those to hurry to pass through before it closes upon them and perhaps trapping them forever inside the Spiritual Realm.
On top of the Paths, Ley Liness and Ley Nodes are another bit of intrigue for many Factions, especially the Magician's Guilds. These Lines and Nodes are places of magical power where it connects the Physical and Spiritual plane and serves as a barrier between them. The Mana supply in the air of the Physical Realm could not even be compared to them. In fact, the Lines and Nodes have been said to have "unlimited supply for countless lifetimes". This explains why a Ley Line and Node is so important. Going into the Spiritual Realm helps better identify the paths of the Lines and Nodes, especially when taking the Paths in consideration that they seem to be aligned to a degree.
OOC: While it does provide the setting and motivations of many Factions, these Paths are just an excuse for people to travel between countries in the World without feeling too segregated from each other, for the sake of the Roleplay.
