It was a good night for a walk through the night, the moon was bright, the sky was clear, and I had done all my paperwork the night previous, so it was the night I usually took off from paperwork and research. Relaxation was something that even we kindred required to function well, our bodies didn't tire nearly as easily as that of a human, but our minds definitely did. After doing my nightly routine of taking a shower and other hygienic activities, I dressed myself in my usual attire and hid my arma sanuinia on my person, as I never left my home without it.
I had heard that there was an establishment in the older section of town with a close link to the older section of the shopping district with some ties to the Guild, so I figured that was as good a place as any to enjoy my night of rest. I had heard they had a wide variety of drinks, so perhaps they would have some nice drinks. It would not intoxicate me or provide any nourishment, but I had grown fond of the taste at least, and found it one of the more pleasant things that humans produced. Perhaps a good red wine, that sounded rather excellent on a night such as this.
With that in mind I began to make my way through the city, looking perfectly at home in the night as I strolled, which would likely contrast my rather young experience to anyone who saw me from afar. However, to anyone closer to me and with even the slightest knowledge of the supernatural, I was unmistakably Kindred. I had long ago stopped pretending to breathe and my skin was as white as bone china, without even a hint of the flush of life that still persisted on some younger kindred. Indeed, while I was not quite old enough to be called anything other than a Neophyte, I was becoming close to becoming one of the Ancilla, though the use of that term always tickled me, especially when it was used to refer to a male. If anything, it would more accurately describe a freshly turned female, but who was I to change the way kindred society operated?
With all those thoughts and more going through my mind as I enjoyed my walk, trying to avoid large amounts of people out of sheer habit, I made my way to the establishment, whose name was apparently the Blood Berry according to the sign hanging above it. This seemed like the place I was looking for, given its general location and the feeling it had. Deciding that I might as well go in either way, I shrugged and pushed open the door, causing the bell that was attached to ring as I walked through the door, alerting the staff on duty that a customer had come in. Deciding not to wait overlong for the person to come out, I made my way over to the bar and hoisted myself on one of the stools at the bar and take stock of my surroundings. Most of the furniture seemed very familair, as it would be considered antique by modern standards, it reminded me of a time before I was Kindred, a time before I had everything taken from me. It gave me mixed feelings to be sure, and I sorted through them, remembering the good times and holding also onto the vengeance that burned within me, reminding me why I abandoned my humanity, reminding me exactly why I could never afford to stop pursuing the people who had ended my family, no matter the amount of time it took and how long the people who had actually done the deed have been dead.
