Appearance:
Standing at five feet and four inches and weighing in at around fifty-five kilograms, Ekaterina is remarkably average - aside from her bust size, which is on the small side. She could easily disappear into a crowd, though her expression tends to stand out - as her lips are seemingly locked in her trademark smile. Her inherent cheer is often in stark contrast to how plain the typical Church attire tends to be.
When not on missions, her wardrobe remains modest, but sports a wide assortment of colors. She prefers plain clothing that is light and loose: long-sleeved shirts and shorts in muted pastels. On cold nights, Ekaterina often wears a plain cardigan or a thin sweater on top of everything. Oddly enough, she is rarely seen without her rugged hiking boots and has been know to wear them to bed. Given the dangerous nature of her work, she has several scars on her upper body, but these rarely visible thanks to her conservative choice of clothes. Her stigmata is sometimes visible from her collar, but she has an unconscious habit of gently pulling on the front her shirt to compensate.
Personality:
At first glance, Ekaterina would easily pass of as an average teenage girl. Honest and friendly, greeting everyone with a warm smile. For all her cheer, the girl somewhat suffers from a lack of self-esteem, particularly when faced with unfamiliar situations. However, she is usually far less uncomfortable than she seems, speaking comfortable if there is a need. When it comes to friends and familiar faces, Kat would happily spend hours with idle chatter. She is particularly welcoming to people she perceives to be younger.
Kat tends to do things at her own pace, approaching every situation with a lax sort of calm. This leads some to assume the girl to be absent-minded or gullible, but they are often proven wrong. Unable to reconcile her faith with with what she has seen and done in the past, Ekaterina has abandoned the concept of morality altogether and has delegated the role of her conscience to her superiors.
Without orders, the girl is typically timid and a bit of a pacifist, preferring to stay away from any sort of conflict and will attempt to distance herself the source as soon as possible. However, she would obey any orders from her handlers without hesitation. Ekaterina does question things from time to time, blaming her own interpretation for this perceived weakness. Such hesitation allows for her true personality to shine through - often too late. One thing has not been influenced by her superiors is her attitude towards mystic kind, which is a lot more amicable than most would expect from someone in her position.
Outside of her official responsibilities, Ekaterina has a variety of interests. Seeing the girl in front of a handheld video game console, or with a mess of tools scattered about is common as well. Oddly enough, despite her apparent talent, she is hesitant to sing outside of invoking her relic.
History:
It wouldn't be inaccurate to say that Ekaterina was raised in a mountain cabin, as her family lived in an isolated region region in the Urals. Or rather, the girl and her father did, as her mother was always overseas. Her father was contracted as an engineer with the local mining company; the girl never found out what her mother did. No one really wanted to speak about the issue - her parents seemed rather secretive about the topic, and the girl was not willing to waste any of the time they together with unimportant questions. Though sometimes, Ekaterina would wonder if there was a deeper meaning to the nervous glances her parents shared.
In either case, her father his best with raising a daughter by himself, often saying that his daughter reminded him too much of his wife to do otherwise. Of course, it was difficult at times, which lead to some of the her rather boyish tendencies. It was never an issue, and neither of them complained. The townsfolk found the girl to be a blessing as well, acting as the leader of the few young children and gracing quiet nights with her singing - a hobby she picked up from her mother.
Life was good. However, a stranger appeared in the mission one night - a foreign priest who had some business in the area. Despite the many scars on his face, he was quite popular with the children. He was in turn welcomed by the locals, who were unaware of the danger. The priest was faithful servant of the Lord, an inquisitor devoted to rooting out heresy within the Church. Rumors of heretics had led him to the quaint mining town. He found no evidence, but only because he had outpaced his prey. The heretics would descend on the town only hours after he left. They were convinced that the there were mystic kind hiding in town and decided that the town had to be cured through fire.
The only survivors were a group of children who stumbled onto the inquisitor, whose car had stalled on the mountain roads. They were led by eleven year old Kat, who smiled before collapsing into the snow - revealing the wounds on her back and the blood on her hands. Out of compassion, he abandoned the chase and tended to the survivors, making note of the girl who had led them despite her injuries. He contemplated bringing her into his order, but decided that she had gone through enough, instead leaving her with the others in the care of an orphanage.
Years later, while visiting his wards, he received news of the villains that had escaped him. However, this time they were ready. He could not break through by himself and there was no time to wait for help. Desperate, he approached Ekaterina, recalling that he saw something in her eyes. The girl seemed all to eager to help. Her smile caused him to hesitate, but time was of the essence. Her task was to crawl through the ventilation and open an unguarded window. When she succeeded, the inquisitor handed her his knife to defend herself and ordered her back into hiding, before "preaching" the true faith to the heretics.
He fought his way through the building, and just as he approached the final door the building was filled with a haunting melody. When he finally burst through, he found young Kat standing over the body of the heretic leader. It seemed that she managed to approach him from behind and repeatedly plunged a knife into his back. His minions were still stunned and were easily dispatched. With a wry smile on his lips, he led the girl outside and started training the girl - he had seen her eyes and knew that there was no other way. Since then, she supported the old priest in weeding out heresy from within the faithful. Eventually, she officially entered the Judas' Order, though she never left her old mentor's side.
Ekaterina was eventually found worthy of receiving a Holy Relic, but she was an apostle only in name and she would rarely act without consulting her mentor. Eventually, the inquisitor that had adopted her stepped on the toes of another and found dead in a safe house. While a tactless schemer may have dealt the girl as well, they merely fed her with an altered version of the story - one that painted her mentor in a heretical light - seemingly buying her devotion. In truth, Kat, felt that the orders came from a different mouth, but task remained the same.
She was never the most skilled assassin, but her methods could deliver a message. Few expect such brutality to come from a girl her age, and even less expect her to take punishment that would stun a full grown man. With the recent upheaval within the Church, with her growing infamy, her superiors decided to cut her loose and assigned her to Lakecrest.
