TRADITIONS AND NORMS OF THE M.F.C.
The society of Ki Arts users is of honor and respect. They are at heart, martial artists and warriors. However, glory is also what drives these individuals to commit deeds that would raise their fame in the warrior society that is now the Martial Forest Coalition. Most members of the Coalition tend to follow the most important of the tenets of the Coalition and its basic traditions.
Though there is a number of individuals who tend to not care as much for these rules. Nevertheless, even those who are expected to follow them, are also driven by pragmatism. Thus meaning, even such people may not exactly follow these spoken/unspoken rules to the letter. As a whole, these set of "codes" could be likened to the code of chivalry and even of bushido. Something that is around to form the society, yet not usually followed completely. It is to be noted that revenge and hatred is a deadly poison which is destructive, those driven in it have a tendency to ignore the Coalition's norms and traditions.
Native styles of the West are the most likely to not follow these norms and traditions as they consider themselves separate from the overwhelming majority of the Asian styles. Thus they tend to not really follow these norms, but some would do well to recognize these to avoid insulting a member of a native Asian style. However, the use of firearms is definitely frowned upon. If one is found using them, their honor will forever be tarnished. There maybe some extremely rare exceptions, but they almost never come up.

Unspoken/spoken norms:
- Personal feuds do not extend to family members.
- Always show respect for seniors and elders according to their status or age.
- Complete obedience to one's martial arts teacher.
- No learning of martial arts from another person without prior permission from one's teacher.
- No using of martial arts against those who are vulnerable.
- No violating of others.
- No sexual relationships with the spouse of friends.
- No use of firearms and other related modern weaponry.
- One's word is one's bond.
WASHING OF THE GOLDEN BASIN
There is even a symbolic ceremony for famed Ki Artists who wish to retire. It is called the "Washing of the Golden Basin". They wash their hands in it, symbolizing that they wash their hands of the matter of the Coalition and have completely cut themselves off of the Coalition and Ki Arts. Thus meaning the Artist promises to never practice their Art again in exchange of never being involved of the Coalition. This also extends to those who may have a grudge on the retiree, they are forbidden to involve them in the Coalition or even carrying out their revenge. Or lest they will take a massive hit to their reputation and perhaps maybe even hunted down. That said, the retiree cannot teach students as it would be violating his promise. Though there have been some cases that some retirees come out of retirement to be part of the Coalition again.
