Stat Maluses: Agi: -- (cancelled by Flamma Apliere for the next 5 posts) Str: - End: -
Upon arrival, I saw the beast and was filled with a sense of overwhelming dread, my body not wanting to move as I wanted to, my eyes fixated on the horror in front of me, watching it decapitate an officer as we arrived. However, I quickly realized that this was the work of the fiends natural aura, and began to take counter measures, at least so my reaction times would remain sharp in spire of the negative aura. Grabbing my bow a bit tighter, I began to chant, "O Flamma Vita, meam agilitatem amplie!" and with it cast, the magic began to seep into my body, and I felt my speed returning to normal at least, however this would not be a permanent solution, as it was like taking medicine to suppress the symptoms of a disease. It would not treat the underlying cause, but it would allow me to function properly in spite of the terror flowing through me. I had to be strong, I could not allow this irrational fear to overtake me.
With that said, I quickly opened the back doors of the vehicle, and vaulted myself on top of the van, giving myself a bit of an elevated position to fire from, before grabbing one of my normal arrows and shooting it at the beast in front of me, aiming at the chest area to see if the chitin there was as hard as the rest of the body, which would be problematic if it were. I then followed what I said up with yelling at my team mates, "Do not tremble before this beast! We cannot let it harm anyone else! Lili, enact the plan we had come up with before. Edwin, try to get one of those tracer rounds that Eichorn gave us into the beast's hide. That way, even if it does escape, we will be able to find it," I yelled, notching another normal arrow, this time aiming at the beast;s face, hoping to hit its eyes.
We could not fail here, the lives of so many are at stake, and we were what was keeping them from being killed by this monstrosity.

A feeling of inescapable dread was already starting to rest on Edwin's shoulders, even from this distance. Like - how on earth was he supposed to fight a demon with just a shotgun? He certainly didn't mind getting close to humans, but something that might well be able to tear his soul apart as well as his body was not something he wanted to get anywhere near. He actually felt a physical sickness in his gut, a need to just turn the van around, damned be Arwen and Lili, and get the hell away from this area and fast. He shook his head and tensed the leg on his accelerator - it might have been his misplaced pride that was the barest shield against this thing.
Apparently whatever feeling was blackening his soul didn't seem to faze Lili, however, as she just seemed to be unable to give any kind of damn - killing this demon just seemed to be what she expected to do. Edwin was almost chilled, if it weren't for the fact that he would much rather be in the van with the werewolf girl than the great bloody demon ahead of them. The advice she gave him was...not exactly helpful. "...yeah, thanks, Peppy." he muttered, eyes still focused on the road and head focused in trying to keep brave enough to keep moving forward. Well, at least he wasn't going to have to get close to it himself, most likely...
And suddenly Eichorn's voice blared on over the radio - a jolt enough to make him forget his other fright - apparently, Eichorn had just been so kind enough to leave some shotgun shells that could act as tracers - something something magic. "...you bastard, Eichorn." Edwin thought to himself. The green shells didn't seem particularly dangerous - Edwin couldn't notice anything about them without detailed examination, of which he really didn't have time for...
And then the fear hit him, like a punch to the stomach. Sweat started rolling down Edwin's forehead, his leg was shaking, he had to take in deep gulps of breath in order to keep functioning - was this the pure aura of fear that belonged to a demon? It was almost physical, as he could almost feel fear seep through his pores into his muscles. He finally stopped the van as close as he dared, and the sound of gunfire and screaming - human and alien - echoed in his ears. He tossed out half his buckshot rounds from his pockets - if what Arwen said was true they were unlikely to be useful to this thing, replacing them with the fifteen tracer rounds from the box.
Edwin gulped down another breath of air, as Arwen burst through the back doors after a chant that he hadn't been able to hear. Time felt like it was slowing down. Edwin could have sworn he'd thought something - or said something? - but he didn't know what it was anymore. He half-tumbled out of the front door, staying as much behind the van for cover as he could. At the range they were, any of these tracer rounds would have little chance of hitting - and even if it did hit, little chance of staying in there. How the hell was he going to get close enough to fire anything into this beast? The only possible way he could get close was if Arwen and Lili could provide a distraction - which, honestly, they probably would - at least, he was pretty convinced Lili would. He peered around from behind the van, loading up three of the tracer rounds in his shotgun. If he could just sneak a little bit closer while the drider was distracted, he might at least be able to get one of these tracer shots in, which seemed to be the biggest priority.

Lili was filled with a strange sensation upon being met with the beast – hm, it was a complicated thing to express. Fear? Dread? She wasn’t sure, they were a bit unfamiliar to her. It wasn’t like she was brave, so to speak, she just wasn’t so affected by them. However, the feeling washed over her… this being wasn’t human. She hadn’t fought something like this before. Would she win? Could she win? She had crushed many a skull in her time, but this – well, did it even have a skull? She felt unnerved; as if dripping with glue. What a strange sensation… But, her composure seemed to remain for now; as she gently followed Arwen’s lead out of the vehicle. Blood was in the air now, the scent of iron and now gunfire as well. It was familiar, despite the unfamiliar situation. It made her excited – a deep burn that drenched her lungs and throat. Her breath began to heave again; her mind dropped away to somewhere safer… she felt like she was between the devil and the deep blue sea. Below euphoria, beyond a combat high – She was just, so, hungry. Arwen’s apparent attempt at encouragement just flew over the girl’s head as she waded forward; her right hand twitching uncomfortably – augh, she wanted her bat so badly! Crunch, crunch… that exoskeleton would be thrilling to break! Would she crunch like an ant, or squish like a normal spider? Hm, well; Lili liked spiders, so she’d rather not have the latter; although she wasn’t a fan of anything this size. Still, it was a missed opportunity. Her muscles tensed as she quietly approached the line of police… well, without her bat, it was back to the usual. Punching was still fun, anyway… With a firm twist, the would-be werewolf tossed aside her trenchcoat; properly revealing her usual outfit; sticking out like a sore thumb as usual – especially with her ears and tail twitching despite her stoic façade. And then, the fight was on to her; the girl charged forward with feral tenacity befitting her animal traits. However, thankfully; while her human mind was lost in the sea of lupine intent; there was still the brain of a hunter entrapping her soul. Although her charge wasn’t really admirable in its pace; the intent was clear – and that was the point. Despite her blunt, direct approach; the wolf soon darted to the side with a sudden dive and roll, intent on avoiding those big nasty scythes on the front. Admittedly, she wasn’t sure, but given its approach; it would appear that they were its only direct weapons – leaving the rest of its form rather vulnerable. Its legs could perhaps cause some damage, but not without risking its balance… and that would be quite ideal for the hybrid. Aiming to flank around its side with her change in advance, Lili swept around the assumed arc of its claws – another fault with its natural weapons; those things really weren’t built for any kind of use at range with their shape; unlike good old claws or clubs. Instead, the half-wolf was intent on slipping around its back to smash its back legs; albeit with consideration of its stinger-like thing on the back. While it wasn’t too threatening given its poor positioning, it was still something of note… for now, Lili would settle for hit-and-runs on its back right leg; aiming to either force it to continually turn and waste its time or accept her crushing strikes at its joints.

The officers were clearly unprepared for the aura they were experiencing. One look at their faces and already you could see the fear starting to seep through them. The amount of pressure they were feeling must be overwhelming for these people who weren't meant to deal with the supernatural. But to their credit, they stood their ground with barrels aiming at the creature. They'd wait until those from the I.A.C.S.B. gave the order. Or their supervisors gave the order. The arrow flew towards the creature, but it snapped it away with a wave of its pincers. Another came towards its eyes. Whatever this creature was, it had intelligence. A bestial sort of sentience. Because of this, it started to scuttle to the right as quickly as it could. The speed it traveled was almost inhuman, it had the speed of someone that reached the peak of humanity. The arrow whistled past it as it dodged. Skill Used: Name: Evasive Maneuvers (Instinct) Description: The means to avoid ranged projectiles while still not fast enough in reflexes and in speed. An individual who lacks such things will rely on his/her own predictions of the shooter's thoughts, intentions, preparatory actions, and line of sight and for the evader to act beforehand. It makes it possible for evaders to avoid projectiles at the moment of fire. For beast-like entities, their methods are more based on pure instinct. Rank: D
But a Hybrid Werewolf was coming at him with fists ready to smash into its exterior. And the thing was still somewhat unwieldy in its balance as it just had dodged the arrows. In an attempt to force the rushing combatant, it swung its claw-pincer at her from above. But it missed just as it hit the asphalt ground instead. Now she was coming to the side. It could see that. With an inhuman cackle, it jumped over to the left. Ability Used: Name: Multiple Eyes Description: Because of its nature as some kind of spider, it has an extremely wide range of vision. One would have to attack exactly from behind to actually deal an attack that it cannot perceive. Rank: E
But that's when the officers started shooting. An onslaught of CAR-15 rifles burst through the dark night. It held up its claws as shields against the bullets. One, two, three... a couple had hit the chitinous covering. But it quickly scuttled away from the shower of lead. It hissed in displeasure and then scuttled ahead to attack the S.W.A.T. team with scythes ready as it moved in a zigzag manner. Ability Used: Name: Chitin Armor Description: Natural protection that is given to insectoid monstrosities. Such protection can even guard against bullets and even some of the strongest attacks. But this depends on the rank of this armor. However it is susceptible to ▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅ Rank: D

The beast quickly dodged both of my attacks, showing it was quite agile despite its size. This would be troublesome. Both Lili and Edwin had made it out of the van, and Edwin had been trying to edge closer through cover. Lili however had charged straight at it, and had barely dodged the slicing strikes it had thrown at her, and it once again displayed its agility, as well its range of view, by dodging the attack Lili had thrown at it from the side. Whats more, the bullets from the swat team seemed to ping off of the shell of the beast like they were mere annoyances. That definitely answered my earlier question of if my arrows could pierce it. Putting all this data together, I decided that there was only one course of action that made any sense.
"Lili, watch out, I'm going to use a bit of magic!" I yelled, preparing to use the only spell that would work well in this situation. I was going to cast a fireball and hopefully explode it near or on its face, and hopefully blind it which would severely hinder its ability to dodge both my arrows and Lili's strikes. If I was using fire arrows, maybe it would burn through its chitin as well. Deciding to test this, I began my incantation. "O magna flamma, meos hostibos incende!" I chanted, and released a ball of flame at the monster's chest, making sure I had the best angle to hit it with, hopefully being able to char its legs even if it managed to dodge it. After that, I tested my theory about my fire arrows, and poured a small amount of mana into my bow, and pulled the string, creating a fire arrow that I would launch at the beast while it was in mid-movement, reducing the chance it had to dodge. My mother's hunting lessons never did cover horrors such as this, but the basic principles definitely still applied, even if it was far bigger and deadly.

Edwin peered around - an open street. There were a few toppled cars in the streets - but that was pretty much the only cover he was going to get. "That's all I get?! You've got to be kidding me. Even with those two running around and causing chaos it's going to take a miracle for it not to notice me - and if I have to do this, I only get one shot at it." Edwin ducked behind the van, trying to avoid both the gaze of the insanely powerful spider-demon, as well as trying to get some distance from the crack of the bullets slamming against it's skin to try and think.
Though as the bullets whirred through the air, something occurred to him - there was no chance he could get through by himself, but what about all those cops? What exactly were they supposed to be doing anyway? Nobody seemed to be giving any solid orders, and the police and SWAT alike were just firing uselessly at the monster hoping for a lucky shot. At the rate they were going they'd be lucky if it annoyed it. Their guns might not be equipped to actually penetrate that beast's skin - but they might be able to provide some useful cover fire.
Edwin tapped the microphone headset in his ear - it wasn't technology he was all too familiar with, but it was easy enough to grasp the idea of, and Arwen and Lili should be able to both hear him over it, assuming they were listening. Though right now, they weren't who he wanted to talk to. "This is Edwin Melchiott of the IACSB. Put me through to the commander of the forces attacking the horror in Tenderloin, and step on it." Edwin demanded. A few seconds passed and a voice barked back into Edwin's ear. "Commander? You and your troops don't seem to have any idea what you're doing - shut up, no you don't - so listen to me very carefully. This thing is called a drider. Firing bullets at its skin wildly is useless - you'd need artillery to be able to effectively break through that chitin, and even then it'll block almost anything you can throw at it if you're just attacking from the front. Get a squad to fire at its eyes - that probably won't hurt it much, but it should at least disorient it enough for a while that your men can regroup and take advantage. If that works, try and get your men to attack from the flank." Edwin thought for a second before continuing. "The elf should have a connection to you - she's the closest to an expert we have on these things that's on the field right now. If she tells you to do something, don't ask questions, just do it and we might survive this." He took a moment to wonder if he should have added Lili to that conversation, but peeking around and seeing Lili charging it, he wasn't quite convinced she'd focus long enough to tell the cops what to do. Still, he supposed she could if she wanted to. "Oh, and one last thing, Commander - I've got tracer bullets that we can use to track this thing if it tries to flee, but I need to get closer. So if you could give me some cover fire, that'd be much appreciated."
There was yelling from the other side of the radio, and he wasn't quite sure if the commander had been able to make out everything he'd said through all the gunfire and that screaming the horror gave, but he was going to have to chance it. The beast was approaching the SWAT men - looking angry as ever. He tapped his headset again quickly. "Commander, watch that thing's approach! If you let it get too close it'll carve through you like tissue paper! Focus fire on it's eyes, try to give it something else to worry about!" he desperately not to sound as panicked as he knew he was. Edwin had a bad feeling the order was too late, but he had to try, and there was nothing else he could do from here. Edwin took a deep breath - if nothing else, the beast seemed to be distracted, and he was going to have to risk it. Fear flooded Edwin's veins, but with it felt like something else - adrenaline? In desperation, trying as best as he could to make himself a smaller target, he dashed as fast as he could for one of the nearby tipped over cars - if he could just make himself small enough a target behind it, he had a shot at not being immediately killed, especially if someone managed to give him some cover fire.
"Bloody hell...I knew this was dangerous when I signed up, but...I don't want to die." This brought back painful memories of nearly being killed in a situation not unlike this...the thought only pushed him to move for the closest cover faster.

The odd beast’s scuttling didn’t bother Lili too much – especially since it immediately changed its focus to the SWAT group rather than the more obvious threat. However, frankly the wannabe werewolf had her own problems as the humans opened fire; she was in the way too! Thankfully the horror’s attempts to shield itself and its intimidating size meant it took most of the heat, but the canine wasn’t too pleased to see the asphalt around her earning a scattered peppering from ricocheting bullets… none hit her, but it really was annoying. Still, she had a job to do – she’d missed once, but she hadn’t much reason to stop swinging. If the chitinous armour was deflecting the bullets, then that didn’t matter; it was just like an exoskeleton, right? So, it was made to resist penetration and slashing damage; not being outright smashed by impacts as Lili’s fighting style owed itself to… well, assuming it was the same as the chitin make-up of an insect’s exoskeleton, anyway. But that said, Lili decided to take a slightly different approach. Left behind the beast, Lili would dart up to it once more from directly behind where it had left her; albeit not caring for its zig-zagging movement and just following it as the crow flew instead – however, rather than trying to swing at it she’d get up close to try and grapple one of its back legs. So long as she was holding on it, it couldn’t turn its pincers back to her; and it couldn’t exactly step on her with the limb. Assuming she could get a grip on it, the wolf would simply twist the limb back in an attempt to outright snap it apart – given its structure, removing legs was going to make the horror’s life extremely hard in a hurry; and the method would get around the issue of its armour and its natural weapons… though, would her strength be up for the task without her going truly wild? Assuming any of the humans didn’t shoot her first… or Arwen, for that matter.

As the bullet poured over it with finer accuracy now given the rapidly closing distance, regardless of its evasive manoeuvres, the beast’s chitin armour was clearly beginning to chip away from the onslaught – however, it wasn’t with any kind of concentration or pace that would expose it in a hurry. However, it was certainly a fact that was getting on the feral Horror’s nerves as it scurried towards the SWAT team; scythes ready for further disembowelment. The police formation began to fragment as it approached, the group’s less determined members beginning to retreat in the midst of the gunfire – but despite the odds stacked against them given their armaments, the humans only retreated a few metres on the whole. Thankfully, there was no need for a total scramble – the beast stopped its advance towards the SWAT line... Arwen’s fireball certainly caught its attention instead. As monstrous and unearthly as the Horror would appear, there was still some feral part of its mind somewhere deep down. The sparks and flames made it retreat fearfully for a moment; breaking its advance as it skittered aside – however, its armour seemed relative unaffected by the blaze. The movement would swiftly toss the canine crusader behind it aside before she could do any lasting damage; skidding Lili across the ruptured asphalt; but at least out of harm’s way for the moment. The fire arrow that followed was met with similar panic, but it regained its composure more quickly the second time. Perhaps under any other circumstances, Edwin’s attempts to try and command the SWAT around him would be met with ambivalence or frustration, but in the heat of the moment his professionalism saw him through. ”Damn it… understood, I’ll pass on the advice, Mister Veteran. I’ll split the team in two – it seems to be struggling with moving between targets. We’ll keep it suppressed as best we can as the second squad moves around, so that will probably be your best shot to move as well; while it’s disorientated like this. Tell the elf thing to keep up the fire if she can; it doesn’t seem to like that!”As per the captain’s words, the SWAT team began to organise itself into a second section whom began to flank around to the left side of the beast; leaving Edwin room to scurry around his own way – the monster seemed distracted by the original team for the time-being, but given how well its eyes had worked previously it was no doubt aware of the splinter group’s movements as well. However, it soon turned its intentions another way. With an abhorrent whistling like something between a kettle and a train, the spider-like Horror’s exoskeleton rib-cage suddenly shuddered; before an unpleasant bulge travelled upward – and finally out of its unhinged jaw. The expulsion was a sizzling mass of khaki juices, hurling through the air and toward its most notable threat; the bug currently stationed on the van. Arwen was lucky that it was still in a rush, missing her vantage point by a metre or so – however, as she would feel the vehicle collapse forward slightly; it was a close shave. The acid had completely dissolved the reinforced rubber of the van’s wheel, and noticeably corroded the actual wheel rims to the point of them collapsing inwards; leaving a sizzling mess in its place… Technique Used: Name: Acidic Bile Description: A weaponised form of gastric acids, delivered with a mix of searing heat and muscular propulsion. Although relatively unthreatening to anything metallic or otherwise molecularly strong, its affects against flesh and other organic material are exceptionally unpleasant. Rank: E

It seemed that while my arrows did not seem to do much to the creature physically, something primal in it still made it scared of fire. Good, that would do nicely. Wait, what was I saying? My mind was being muddled by the amount of fire magic I have used, and if I kept it up, I would quickly start to become more and more hot blooded and my personality would begin to show outward signs of change, and my body would begin to heat up significantly. However, now was not the time to worry about such things, as the monster was winding up for an attack, and shot acid, which barely missed me, melting the wheel well of the van.
Deciding to get into cover, I leaped up from the top of the van and hid behind it more, putting it's mass between me and the monster, so that if it decided to do that again, I would have less chance of getting hit. To keep the pressure off of Lili, who had been thrown by the monster, and the police officers who were firing on the beast, I let off a few more fire arrows. I could feel the prana drain taking its toll, and my reinforcement beginning to wear off, as I was no longer moving as fast as I was going to. If this fight lasted any longer, I would likely run dry in the fight, as I only had about a third of my mana remaining, and the fire usage will shortly begin to make my thoughts run haywire.
I yelled out to the people around, saying, "I cannot keep this up much longer. I only have enough magic left for five more fire arrows. I recommend we make a retreat after getting a tracer round into the beast. Keep it occupied so that Edwin can do his job. It is our best chance of survival here!"
After that, I leaned back behind the van, making sure to take cover so that I could be safe from whatever projectiles it decided o fling my way, however I stayed on guard just in case it had something else up it's sleeve.

With it's attention kept by everyone else firing on it, Edwin managed to dash behind a totalled car, slammed into the ground and braced up into the air on it's front. Braced against some rubble, it would make as solid cover as anything else around here. Edwin struggled to keep his breath under control. It still all felt so unreal, and it was hard to keep control of his body. "How do people do all this heroic crap?" Edwin thought to himself, taking a second to wipe away the sweat from his brow, which just came back almost instantly.
(Breathe in, breathe out.) Edwin felt like he was in completely over his head. If anything, he was entirely convinced the drider could sense him, just from the fear rolling off of him. His gut was telling him to run, run as fast and as hard away from this thing because it was going to slice through him like butter, and there was nothing he could possibly do about it.
(Breathe in, breathe out.) His grip on the shotgun felt cold and clammy. Would he be able to keep hold of it if he managed to get off a proper shot? Even modified, what the hell did a shotgun do against a goddamn horror like this?! Especially from this far a distance, there was little it could hope to do. Arwen at least had magic and Lili was just...well, possibly insane, but a skilled fighter nonetheless. "I'm just an ordinary human. What the hell good am I...?"
(Breathe in, breathe out.) Edwin's breathing felt slow. It took all his willpower to remember to breathe, and his grip on the shotgun was so tight that he felt like something would shatter inside it. Time was slowing to a crawl, stretching out into infinity. His legs were shaking - it would throw off his aim if he didn't bring it under control. Somewhere in his head, a battle between the logic needed to stay alive and the fear that was consuming him was raging, even as he peered from behind his cover to see the drider again and check his position, and it was a mental battle he really didn't have time for right now...
"...understood." A voice in Edwin's ear broke him out of his spell. "I’ll split the team in two – it seems to be struggling with moving between targets. We’ll keep it suppressed as best we can as the second squad moves around, so that will probably be your best shot to move as well; while it’s disorientated like this. Tell the elf thing to keep up the fire if she can; it doesn’t seem to like that!"
"A-acknowledged." Edwin managed to respond, and slowly got to his feet behind his cover. "Breathe in, breathe out...watch your aim...take the shot." Edwin whispered to himself. The beast was advancing, fully focused on the SWAT teams flanking it. If he wanted to get a shot, he might not get a better chance than the chance he had now. He tapped his headphone again. "Lili, Arwen, cover me, I'm taking the tracking shot - SWAT boss says fire is working well." he quietly spoke, stepping out from behind his cover, and bracing his shotgun against the shoulder. He lined up the sights with the drider, trying to aim for it's back while the front was more focused on everyone else - and hopefully avoiding hitting Arwen or Lili. They probably wouldn't appreciate that much, and he was damn certain he wouldn't need a tracer to be able to track Arwen - she'd make herself perfectly obvious on her own.
(Breathe in...) As the drider spat a burst of acid towards the van and the SWAT line, Edwin's shotgun roared, blasting a tracer round towards the drider. With practiced motion and surprising speed, Edwin pumped the shotgun and fired twice more into the beast, careful to aim away from where Lili and Arwen were attacking. With his first three shots fired, he ducked back behind the car as fast as he could. (Breathe out...)
Edwin tapped his headphone. "Arwen, tracer shot taken, please confirm hit." He loaded up another two tracer rounds into his shotgun, but any attempts at being sneaky were most likely gone. With little understanding of magic he had no idea if he'd managed to hit or if it worked, and it would be seconds before the drider did something about him now it knew he was there. The cover he had might take a burst of the acidic bile the creature had spit (assuming the drider didn't just decide to walk up and spear Edwin through the damn thing, which hopefully he'd be too distracted by everyone else to do so), but retreating towards the SWAT line would just mean he'd have to do this over again with the creature looking out for him if he'd missed. He looked around - there still seemed to be plenty of rubble strewn around the street if he had the unfortunate luck to have to advance and take another shot, and he could probably use the rubble and ruined buildings to sneak around back to the main line. Edwin struggled to control his breathing as he waited for the response...

Thrown aside by the beast; Lili went skidding across the damaged asphalt from the force of the toss – alright, well, even she had to admit that her outfit wasn’t ideal here; as her back and arms were cut up by the stone. Nothing serious, especially by her standards; but not very pleasant. She’d need to do some fussing over disinfectant later. What a chore. And speaking of chores, this utterly unenjoyable fight… the hybrid staggered to her feet once more, shaking off the debris still stuck in her skin. She was getting a bit annoyed now. Snapped out of her irritation by Edwin’s shenanigans, Lili’s mind finally returned to her slightly – the mission. Yes, the mission! Tracer, that was important! The slug he fired hit between the plates of the Horror’s exoskeleton on its back, but hardly looked stable… a job for a dog! She got to help! Would Arwen compliment her for this? The thought got the mindless would-be werewolf a bit excited despite her situation; forcing her onwards despite the temptation to lick her wounds instead. Charging up to the beast once more, Lili circled around to its back again; only to clamber onto one of its legs – sadly, agility wasn’t exactly the hybrid’s strong-suit, so it definitely wasn’t the most dignified method of scaling the beast. Still, her momentum paid off enough for her to climb onto the drider-like Horror’s abdomen; trying to sturdy herself before pulling back a fist – she was going to just have to slam dunk the tracer round in. Err, that term didn’t feel right in her mind, but the thought quickly passed – she had to hit things. Dragging back all her might, the werewolf’s swing came like a train in motion…!

The further flurry of fire arrows certainly kept the beast busy – albeit more in a rage than another show of fear, now. However, it was becoming clear that the tide was turning. The attack from multiple directions and the display of flames was making the Horror retreat… however, that probably wasn’t ideal for the group, all things considered. For the moment, though; its efforts were distracted by the sudden attack from its back – the shotgun shells weren’t all that threatening to its exoskeleton plating, but its back and abdomen weren’t really where it had adapted to expect attacks from. With a trio of thick thunks, it would be clear to any observer than the rounds had met a fleshy mark instead of cracking its plating further.
Rearing back in frustration, the horror turned to its newfound attacker – only to be met with another one coming from its back again! Attempting the throw off the personal space invader, the drider could only really throw its abdomen around in retaliation; as there was no way its hulking claws could reach back behind it. Although the shaking certainly made Lili’s life harder, the werewolf could definitely make the punch; leaving the tracer round firmly sunk into its flesh.
Finally fed up with its situation, the Horror jumped aside to toss off its unlikely rider; hurling the werewolf aside yet again; before making its escape at last. Despite its size, it was lightning fast on its many feet; scuttling away like the spiders it resembled; and leaving plenty of dents in the asphalt as it moved. However, its route soon took a sudden turn from the road; bulldozing a small car in order to squeeze into an alley way – the tracer’s worth would soon pay dividends by the looks of things.
In the meantime, though; the police unit just seemed happy to be alive – they’d won against a big scary monster at last! That was a victory in their book; regardless of their compatriots’ mission. ”We did it! That’s one for the record books!” cheered one of the younger members, while most of the group just seemed relieved. ”No time for drinks, squad; we’ve still got a monster on the loose. I hope you IACSB folks know what you’re doing.” grumbled the SWAT captain over the radio; seeming understandably displeased with the outcome – the Horror could just lick its wounds and come back all over again, as it had before.
