MAGIC INTRODUCTION
Magic is a means of reshaping reality through one's own logic and understanding of the world and reality. Meaning one's own extent of understanding and logic is the extent of how far magic can reach. The people who use magic are generally called Magicians, Mages, and so on. Science is widely learned and practiced as a means to help better understand the natural world around them as it is without any enforcement of one's influence over it, thus making it more part of "logic" when it comes to magic as it more seeks towards the impartial truth. Beliefs, even religious beliefs, tend to fall under "understanding" as they accept a set of preconceived dogmas which may or may not be unacceptable to other beliefs and people who solely follow the clear cut understanding of the world.
To cast Magic like a Magician or any form of Miracles like any Hunter of the Church, one must respectively either have "logic" and "understanding". As a Magician, the extent of your powers will vary with your understanding and even sometimes logic. But those of the ilk like the Church will rely on their respective understanding. Ki Artists will rely on equal parts logic and understanding due to their constant training and experimentation on their bodies.
Regardless, both forms of Magic relies on the presence of Mystery as it is the lifeline of Magic. If there's no mystery, it means no Magic. Thus explaining why Magic declined at first in the Renaissance and the Reformation. And even going so far that pre-Renaissance Magic were mostly Understanding-based styles, Traditional Magic, and Logic-based Magic, Modern Magic, was now born. However, this means that spiritual magic tend to be under the realm of understanding while the more physical magic now became based on logic.
Every being has a means to fuel magic, other than providing a frame via logic and/or understanding. There are two energy sources, Mana and Od, the former being external sources and the latter being internal sources in the body. Both are the same kind of energy, the life energy. Many call it Ki, Chi, Prana, Od, Mana, and so on. Though the common terms are Ki, Faith, Od, and Mana.
Ki Artists tend to raise their Od (which they call normally call Ki/Chi) via physical training and meditation. All living things possess Od. Ki Artists tend to have a lot of it because of their curriculum. And perhaps the same for the Church Hunters as they even took in Ki Arts for their own as well. They are capable of using Mana, but are capable of achieving their effects faster through a reliance on Od since it is an internal energy source within themselves. So they tend to rely on Od the most, but Mana is used on more complicated measures. Perhaps a long ritual for the Hunters or even a long healing and sophisticated process for Ki Artists. For both related parties, they still respectively call it Ki and Faith regardless of the sources.
Magicians do have Od which could be increased through some forms of meditation and medicine, unlike the Ki Artists who do this and rely on physical training as well. However, that may not be enough to reach higher levels of spells that require more fuels. Which means they are forced to rely on Mana as they devote themselves to knowledge, not their physical muscle. With their knowledge and Mana, they use incantations to help bring about their desired effects. While it does seem near limitless by drawing upon a limitless energy source from the environment, that source is still being drawn in by the caster’s own Od supply. Where the Od is being used to help draw into the Caster in order to actualize the spell. Once that Od is used up, then Mana cannot be drawn in and spells cannot be cast.
Magic of today is divided into two forms: The Physical and The Spiritual. The Physical tends to be the tangible that can be manipulated. Such as fire, lightning, and other things from the Physical realm that could be made physical contact with. Spiritual, like its name, refers to the intangible where it covers mostly of the mind and the spirit. Both have their own elements and the main ones are addressed below.

Sub-Elements:
People tend to possess a better alignment towards certain things. Some users of Magic have an affinity of certain kinds of magic and even elements at times. Such things are seen as a Magician's natural talent of that specific focus. This characteristic is commonly passed down through the genetic line, this does explain why there are many Magicians that specialize in a magic style/focus. Where such people get their talent seems to be based on an indescribable concept in which modern magic nor traditional magic has yet to even discern the mysteries behind it. In other words, no one knows how it functions fully, but it does seem to correlate to one's personality as well. It is also to be noted that with an alignment in one thing, means that person would be notably deficient in an opposite focus. A Magician with an alignment of fire would unsurprisingly be lacking in water and ice.
On an OOC Note: This means that based on your alignment, you will be able to rank up one Magic Skill (of the Character's focus) up to S rank while the rest are of lower rank. This is to make sure that your character specializes in something at the least and not be too much of a jack-of-all-trades.
Knowledge is what allows to frame the realization of Magic. In other words, one must know how to achieve the effect. At least this is a standard rule for Logic-Based Magic. But the same can be said for Understanding-based Magic as well at times. The end game of this is that one must be able to have some idea of the effect they want. Through this, Magic and other similar effects can be realized through this frame called "Knowledge". Experience is nearly self-explanatory. From experiencing the usage of the spell, the caster becomes more aware of the short-comings of the casting. From becoming aware and even experimenting, the caster improves that spell from that accumulated experience. Thus, spells becomes ever potent from "Experience".
On an OOC Note: This is simply some fluff to cover the variety of ways you can make and improve spells, in other words the way how your character learns new spells from "Knowledge" and to improve them by "Experience".
In the Skills/Abilities/Techniques/Spells and the Statistics pages, there are listed units covering the amount of usage for a spell/technique and the energy pool (Mana/Od/Ki/Faith) that a character will have. It has been covered here that most characters, including Ki Artists and the Magicians, are capable of using either Od and Mana (despite on what ideologies that call them otherwise). There might be some confusion on how to use the units and how to relate to them. Here will be a list below for some common character "races":
In summary, you are using your established energy units either way when it comes to using Mana.

FUEL

THE PHYSICAL AND THE SPIRITUAL

Spiritual, like its name, refers to the intangible where it covers mostly of the mind and the spirit. Both have their own elements and the main ones are addressed below.
Physical:
- Fire: Flames in basic state. Heat, excitement, and life in motion.
- Water: Liquid, ice, cold, absorption, flow, and sustaining life.
- Wind: Air, movement, pressure, kinetic force, lesser manipulation.
- Earth: Minerals, stability, storage, unity, development, birth, plants.
Spiritual:
- Void: Nullification, Concept, reaction, cause, meaning.
- Ether: Form, presence, solidarity, matter, manifestation.
- Mind: Personality, Mental Capacity, Mental Clarity, Perception.
- Soul: Emotion, Sentience, Existence.
Sub-Elements:
- Ice: The absence of heat. Stillness. Inactivity.
- Lightning: Static energy. Free energy. Directed power.
- Metal: Rigidity. Flexibility.
- Holy: Purity. Virtue. Order.
- Abyss: Conquest. Chaos. Vice.
AFFINITY, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
People tend to possess a better alignment towards certain things. Some users of Magic have an affinity of certain kinds of magic and even elements at times. IN RELATION TO UNITS
- Ki Artists: They will mostly use Od, which they normally call Ki. In fact nearly all the techniques they use rely on Od. However, they are capable of using Mana which is also called Ki. For the sake of order and clarity, Ki Artists will still use Od even when using a technique that involves Mana. Say a meditation technique will draw in and use Mana, some Od is used to draw it in and use it. Therefore Od is used up for Mana, which fits the current rules above when you look at Magicians. We will not necessarily put up any units for Mana, but will just concern yourselves with just spending Ki/Od points. Look at the example below:
Healing Circulation
Rank: E
Description: A Ki Circulation technique that breathes in the Ki in the air into the user in order to heal him/herself.
Cost: 1 unit
See how it mentions the environment by "the air"? It is mentioning the use of Mana, but at the least Ki (Od) is used up for the sake of utilizing Mana. Please remember that Ki Artists using Mana for their Ki techniques is very rare. Even the meditation techniques, circulation techniques, and other such complicated processes don't cover Mana that frequently. - Magicians: As stated before, they will mostly use Mana. But they are using their Od to bring in that Mana to use it because they have such little Od to begin with in comparison to the Ki Artists. So a similar kind of treatment is expected here, but in reverse. While we give a Mana rank and energy pool points for the Magicians, when spells are used, we deduct from the Mana pool and don't worry about Od cost. Since the Mana pool correlates the Od pool, we have no need to know how much Od the Magician has. Since after all, if the Mana is used up, chances are the Od is used up too.
In summary, you are using your established energy units either way when it comes to using Mana.
FAMILY GRIMOIRES
The life of any Magician Family, both famous and prestigious or common and unknown. Family Grimoires are a Magician's Family's compilation of their magical research stemming from their first family member who got introduced to the Craft. This means that the older the Family line is, the more research and number of spells are recorded. It is to no surprise that all of the Aristocratic Families have Family Grimoires with content spanning from centuries ago. As Family Grimoires are a symbol of a Family's power, it goes to say that the older families are the most powerful as they normally hail a number of equally great Magicians.
In the RP, they may be resources for a Magician to further their skill in their family's craft other than relying on their relatives or blood relations. Other than this, it can be used as a reference book when dealing with a situation. This does not mean that if you have a Grimoire based on fire spells, you'll learn anything about some random monster. It doesn't work like that. Also you are only using spells that you have trained for, so no pulling spells out of there unless it's for the sake of improvement. Check with staff first.

ARMA MAGA
Magical implements with their own unique set powers and are used to help facilitate magic spells. They are universally called as "Magical Armaments", but are officially known as "Arma Maga." The creation of an Arma Maga comes from a Magician's Magical Knowledge and Arma Maga Creation skills. Arma Maga goes through many different names such as "fetishes", "enchanted weaponry", and so on. Various Arma Maga can be categorized into two categories: Functional and Intensifier.
Functional: Arma Maga with only one set function. By running one's mana through the object, it can cast a set spell of its own so as long as they have the fuel. Due to its focus on one kind of spell, it is noted to be efficient in its usage of mana to make up for its lack of widespread focus in other functions. However, a Magician's spells can be used with this to spread its range of abilities wider to a degree. But not in a way that a water Arma Maga can suddenly spew out fire.
Intensifier: Arma Maga that can be used to "store" a spell in order to give it an amplified effect once it is released. This is the type of Arma Maga that is utilized as a medium to help cast spells. As many spells have longer incantations the more complicated and more difficult to cast, the Intensifier Arma Maga allows one to cast an inferior version for less incantations and for the same effect.
