Edwin adjusted his glasses, with his trepidation replaced by a smug feeling of satisfaction. "Heh. Looks like I've got one thing over those knuckle-grinders in the SID." He'd probably have danced a slight jig, except for the fact that, honestly, Ciara looked rather cross and there was no need to antagonise the spirit. It probably couldn't kill him, but he didn't want to give it reason to really try. Still, she looked miserable at the prospect. It was quite depressing in a sense, like the test had just been there for both their benefits.
Though her last words before Edwin's world once again flared and became nothing but white did seem a little ominous...
The next thing he knew, he was looking up at an immensely blurry world, full of mismatched shades of brown and grey and black. "What the...?" he muttered, trying to wave his hand in front of his face, but even that only seemed to be a pale shade of confused white. "What the hell did that spirit do to me...?!" he started to panic. Had the spirit somehow destroyed some important part of his brain, or teleported him to some parallel dimension of madness and insanity as punishment for feeling so wronged...?
"...oh, wait. My glasses have just fallen off." Hoping nobody had noticed, Edwin felt for the glasses, hanging off his neck, and brought them back up to his eyes, the world suddenly shifting in focus. Of course, Agent Ree and her assistant were there. "Oh, god damn it..." he groaned to himself before realising that they weren't paying attention to him. He slowly got up, stretching his back. "Oi, what the hell are you two staring at? You look like you've never seen anyone get a Spiritual Armament before." he stretched his neck, with a smug grin on his face...until he heard a horn blasting.
"What in the...?" Edwin turned around to look at...well, it was a black, shiny van. "Is that a van? Why in the hell have you got a van down here?" Edwin just looked at the van confusingly, looking back between Ree and the van, waiting for someone to tell him what was going on. It was a decent enough van that he was sure hadn't been there beforehand...
Suddenly, the horn blared a second time. Nobody had done anything, and nobody seemed to be in it. The penny dropped.
"My spiritual armament is a van?!" he shouted, half in incredulity. "Why in the **** is it a van?! How is it even a van?! I barely know how to..." Edwin suddenly stopped, mid-sentence. There was a dull throbbing in the back of his head, almost like a cold hand on the back of his brain, but it wasn't painful...not really. He slowly stepped down from the ritual platform and walked up to the van, walking around it. He walked around the van, looking at it from all angles. Not even with an angry look on his face, but just a...curious one. There was something he couldn't quite hear being whispered in the air around him.
Edwin climbed up into the driver's seat. Even from the front, there looked like all kinds of electronic gadgetry, things he'd barely seen before. Turning to see the back of the van, it was like stepping into a miniature command centre - everything one could want for tracing any kind of entity, physical or spiritual, was here. Gadgetry that Edwin had only dreamed about ever being able to see for the past several years. Years ahead of it's time, it had somehow all ended up in here. "It's...it's like a paradise!" There was still a dull throb in his head as Edwin sat against the comfy driver's seat, his hands resting surprisingly comfortably on the wheel, feet resting against the pedals in a matter as comfortable as any who'd driven all his life. Edwin grinned a manic grin - this might end up rather well after all. Yes, things were surely going to change for the better.
...if only he could figure out how the hell to get this van out of here.
