ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT
Frequented every night by a good number of people in the city. Even during the day, it still possesses quite the number of customers roaming around for a good time. The entertainment district is full of bars, cabaret clubs, restaurants, and other things you'd expect in the district. Of course, there are a few casinos around and even night clubs around for those interested. However, crime is rather higher here since there are factors encouraging its growth. Especially when it comes to what the entertainment industry here offers. But it also has to do with it being very close by to the ghettos. A lot of shady deals have taken place there and even here nightly. And it isn't a surprise if a couple of bodies have been found in the next morning. But there's nothing much to sneeze at since the murders aren't as randomized and citizens are usually left alone so as long as they don't get involved.
NOTABLE LOCATIONS
Buck ‘n’ Wild Casino:
Originally a discotheque that ran into disrepair in the twentieth century, the Buck ‘n’ Wild Casino exploded to life as Mystic Kind were just becoming accepted in Lakecrest City; themed around the clichés of the supernatural as well as traditional Americana and acting as a major step to bridging the gap in the community between the new Mystic Kind denizens and the human majority. Almost entirely staffed by inhuman races, it became a haven for the new races of the city as somewhere they could bond over their troubles in peace – and allow humans a safe taste of their culture as well; making them seem all the more unthreatening with the staff’s silly and flashy costumes and the generally kitsch nature of the place in general.
With a very friendly atmosphere full of colour and cheer, the casino has grown quite popular and expanded a lot over the years; hosting slot machines, card games, a bar and small café, and a stage for a variety of similarly Mystic Kind-themed events courtesy of its unique range of staff. However, troublemakers must beware – unsurprisingly the supernatural staff offer a lot of muscle and other power behind their warnings; and the casino’s owner and founder, a Minotauress named Maria Smith, is known for her strict view of matters in her home despite her chipperness. Having something of a reputation for this safe outlook as well as its friendly atmosphere, the casino has become particularly popular among female Mystic Kind; although humans and males of any race are not entirely uncommon either.
The Vermillion Storm:
A luxurious nightclub known mostly for its trouble owner; the proud and well-known member of the Court of Fangs, Fiorella Conti; the Vermillion Storm is focussed around its gothic atmosphere and thus is very popular among fans of the vampiric or demonic culture – however, most of the actual members of the races consider it a joke, trying far too hard to emulate their stereotypes. Typically playing dark ambience, witch house and synthpop music, the club has a loyal following of human and the occasional supernatural soul – most of the latter are there just to hang on the coattails of its owner, though; or even prey off the more willing of the former. On the matter of feeding, making such a necessity for the thematic race a safe action for both involved is enforced by the club’s predominantly vampiric security; thanks to its surprisingly progressive owner.
The Vermillion Storm often hosts small events using its antique stage, a remnant of the theatre it was renovated from, ranging from speeches and Q&A sessions by its owner (often the most popular events, courtesy of her fanbase) to costume competitions and other common club occasions. Perhaps most notable are the endings to Fiorella’s appearances in which she feeds on a volunteer from the audience – the dream of a great many of the club’s patrons, or an irritated sigh-inducing sight to others.
