After having been suddenly moved to a different posting from the main base in the Rockies, I decided to take a look around town and pick up some decorations for my new apartment. Apparently the branch offices were a lot more lenient when it came to personal possessions, so we could have a lot more personal effects in our apartments, which was partly because we tended to be there for longer periods of time, especially this branch it seemed. They had sent me out to a town called Lake Crest City, which was near a town which had a large rift in it, and our base here was for the purpose of monitoring it and making sure nothing hostile came out of it, be it mystic kind or horrors. However, today was my day off, so I decided to go shopping. I quickly found my way to the shopping district, and to a mall there, where I found a shop that fascinated me utterly. It was what was popularly called a plushie shop, and it apparently was a specialty shop that sold nothing but cute stuffed animals and mascots. I had never been in a shop as exquisite as this, and quickly made my way in.
Soon I was simply overwhelmed by the amount of different stuffed animals, probably looking very much like a kid in a candy shop who was given 100 dollars and tld to go wild. After all, all of these were very well made and fell well within the allowance my family had given me. I could probably buy half the store with what I had left for this month, but I could not do that, I still had other things to buy. I could still buy quite a lot though, so I grabbed a cart and began to walk through the isles, my eyes flicking from one item to the next, seeing all sorts of cute things, and I picked out quite a few. I found a cute wolf girl who looked a little bit like Lili, and one that looked like myself, and grabbed them immediately. Lili would be delighted to have a set of these, she seemed to be quite attached to me for some reason. I also found quite a few different animals, and before I knew it the cart was filled, and a large stuffed bear probably half my height was set precariously on top.
Deciding that I had to stop as I had enough, I forced my way back to the cashier, vowing to come here again next month and get more when I could afford to without raising eyebrows from my family. The total was not as bad as I thought it would be, and I paid by check, which seemed odd to the cashier for some reason. After that, he wrapped them all up and handed them to me, which resulted in a rather comical situation where I had the bear tier to my back with some twine they had in the shop and my hands full of bags filled to the brim with various plushies. I was so distracted about my latest acquisition that I was not paying 100% attention to where I was going, and I accidentally ran into an entering customer, and we both fell to the ground, my bags scattered everywhere and the bear coming untied from me, as the clerk seemed to be unfamiliar with knots, or just embarrassed to be tying something to me. I quickly apologized to the man in front of me saying, "I am quite sorry for running into you, are you alright?" I said, checking to make sure he was okay. It seemed he was okay, however he had landed squarely on what he had been carrying, and it was absolutely squished, and it appeared to be food and was no longer edible. Realizing this, I apologized profusely to the man, saying "I am so sorry sir, please allow me to treat you to lunch as an apology," I said, looking at him with worried puppy-dog eyes, extremely worried that I had offended the man with my careless actions.

Yep. Definitely lost.
Emilio scratched what little of his head was visible then went on to looking around his surroundings as people walked around him, occasionally gawking a bit at the guy covered up enough to make the puritans wonder when in the future one of their members had founded an extremist sect.
The slowly thawing box of pizza rolls teetered in Emilio's hand as a breeze and Emilio's skittish twitching caused its weight to shift.
Maybe . . . one of the shop owners around here can tell me where to go?
Emilio looked around and started walking towards a random door of one of the stores.
This happened entirely too often. Emilio would leave his home for a relatively simple task, in this case restocking on pizza rolls and he ended up wandering around. It didn't help when a simultaneous errand took Emilio outside of his normal stomping grounds. In this case, in addition to the pizza rolls, Emilio had wanted to visit the library in this particular city, something he'd heard, and in the end confirmed, was quite nice. After that he'd gone to get his pizza rolls at one of the local supermarkets and had decided looking around a bit before heading home couldn't hurt, and this ended up as lost as he currently was, with no idea of where to go.
Just as Emilio opened the door to enter the shop, he felt the force of someone crashing into him. Emilio fell backwards and felt something between a squish and a crunch underneath his back.
No, no, no . . .
Emilio felt behind him and his fingers grazed over the now wafer thin box of pizza rolls.
Why?
At least the girl who had crashed into him now seemed intent upon verbosely apologizing. And was offering him a meal. Something nicer than pizza rolls actually sounded pretty good.
Emilio rose to his feet as the girl stared at him like some sort of wounded animal.
"It's fine . . . I mean uh . . . I'm fine . . ." Emilio stated, correcting his words as he didn't want to imply the flattened pizza rolls were a small matter. He had been going to eat those after all. Well, maybe they were a small matter. They were certainly an inconvenience though, that much was certain, and he didn't want to imply an inconvenience was totally fine. It was a little bit disingenuous.
He picked up the package, now flat enough to slide under a wooden door. "Is there a trash can around here?" he asked, to no one in particular, though anyone, really, would be a help. His attention had parted ways with the girl who had crashed into him and was now worried about disposing on the remains of what was going to be his next meal.
"What did you say your name was, again?" Emilio asked slightly absently as he found a trashcan and slipped the flattened parcel in, glad that his coat was made of a waterproof material. Not overjoyed. Just glad. A wet back was unpleasant, but not world ending.

The man in front of me got up, and said he was fine. At least, he didn't seem too angry, at least from what I could tell. Very little of the man's face was visible, only his eyes, and the rest of his body was covered as well, head to toe in clothing. I only assumed it was a man from his body type and voice, but I was pretty sure I was right. After all, he hadn't corrected me when I called him sir. He then asked my name, seeming to think he had just not caught it when I said it, at least from what I could tell of what he said. I immediately responded, me ears drooping a little bit at the realization that I had not even introduced myself yet, "Oh where are my manners, I am Arwen Drake, Heir to House Drake and the Draco Magicae. It is a pleasure to meet you, I wish it would have been under more pleasant circumstances however. May I inquire as to your name as well, sir?" I asked, inquiring to his name as my father told me to whenever I gave my own. After all, he said, it was pure egotism to introduce yourself and not to ask the other party their name.
"I do apologize for destroying whatever was in that box, I would be remiss if I did not compensate you for it on top of treating you for lunch," I said to the man in front of me noting that he threw the box out, meaning it was no good anymore, "I saw a good place for Italian food on the way here, if you are fine with that. If not, I would be more than happy to treat you to anywhere you choose, do not worry about the expense," I said, once again bringing up my offer for lunch, however giving a bit more detail this time to show my sincerity. After all, an offer without specifics could be easily taken as given for politeness's sake, and not out of sincerity. And I could not have him think I was only being polite, I was totally contrite for my carelessness. Which reminded me that all my stuff had gone flying, although it was intact, it would be hard to put on all by myself again, and I reluctantly turned to the man in front of me and said, "I know it is rude to ask someone you first meet for a favor, but if you could forgive my rudeness, I would like a little help gathering up my belongings, as I had a lot of merchandise I just bought, and to carry it all myself would require a bit of help in attaching it to me," I said, referring to the numerous bags and the large stuffed bear I had purchased. "All I need is for you to take a bit of the rope that came undone and tie the bear to my back, if you could do that, I would be quite grateful," I finished, giving him a small polite bow to boot.
I waited for the man's response, giving him as much time as he needed to consider my proposition, as I was the one in the wrong here, and it would not do to be impatient.

The girl, or rather the woman (as she appeared to be on closer inspection by Emilio), introduced herself in a manner that Emilio almost expected from a medieval romance novel. Well, she seemed well meaning enough, so as odd as it was, Emilio couldn't really be bothered by it.
At least it didn't seem like she expected him to know who that was. People like that were the worst. Maybe she was from a mage family though? Might explain the full family introduction.
"My name is Emilio Ramirez de Valencia of . . . er . . . Valencia." Emilio replied. Sure, he now lived in Barcelona, but he'd grown up in Valencia and his family was from Valencia. Emphasis on WAS. "I'm not really heir to anything, but I am good at lighting things on fire."
Emilio paused for a moment, wondering if that had perhaps come out wrong, but quickly brushed the thought aside, though the cashier did seem to be giving him an odd look now.
The potential for a free meal seemed really nice as recompense for the pizza rolls, though maybe a bit excessive. It was just pizza rolls. They weren't exactly imported caviar. "It was just frozen pizza rolls. Not really that big a deal. Italian sounds nice though." Emilio replied. She seemed to insist on the whole meal and "oh my god, what have I done? I must repay you for this horrible inconvenience somehow" thing. Sure it was an inconvenience, but Pizza weren't exactly life changing.
Wait, is this a plushy shop? Jesus. How many plushies did she buy? Emilio pondered as he became aware of the wreckage strewn about from the collision with Arwen. I probably should help her pick all this up.
In fact, she seemed to ask him about that. All she wanted help with was the bear though.
That is one big bear . . .
"Are you sure that's all? I mean this is a lot of . . . er . . . plush toys . . . plushies? What do people usually call these things?" Emilio asked before picking one up and looking it over.
Huh. This things is kind of cute.
Emilio handed the plushy back to Arwen before complying with her request and starting on the task of tying the bear onto Arwen's back. The knot ended up a little weird and lopsided, but it seemed effective. "Will that work?"

The man in front of me introduced himself as Emilio Ramirez de Valencia, which if I recall was an area in Italy. He then mentioned that while he wasn't really the heir to anything, he could lght things on fire quite well, which I took to mean he was a fellow fire mage, my eyes immediately lighting up at the prospect of meeting a fellow fire mage. I immediately responded to that saying, "Oh, how nice to meet a fellow fire mage,Mr. Ramirez. It has been ages since I met a fellow fire mage, and going by how you described it, does that mean you are a magistrate or with the SID?" I asked, genuinely curious. I naturally eliminated the possibility that he was a guild scholar, as he did not really seem the type, at least that was what my impressions of scholars in the past had told me. No scholarly mage would say they we're "good at lighting things on fire". After all, they really seemed to be quite absorbed with pride in their own scholarly abilities, and tended to talk in flowery terminology when they spoke about their magic, right?
After that, I began to pick up some of the plushies that I had dropped before he began to speak again, this time commenting that it was not a big deal since the food I had destroyed was not terribly expensive, however he seemed to be taking me up on my offer, for which I was glad. After all, it was not the cost of the damaged item that had worried me, but merely the fact that my own carelessness had caused it. I then stood up, brushing some hair that had fallen in my face behind my right ear, my elven physiology keeping it from falling back into place far more effectively than if I had human ears. I then said, "It was not the cost I was worrying about, Mr. Ramirez. I am simply appalled by the fact that my own carelessness caused an inconvenience for another person, and that is unacceptable for a proper lady, so I wish to make whatever small amends I can for my careless actions," I said, explaining the reason why I was so mortified by my own carelessness that had caused this situation in the first place.
He then made a comment that I had dropped a lot of them, and he seemed concerned that I had only asked him to help with one of them, to which I responded, "I would not have even asked you to help with this one if it were not absolutely necessary. After all, I am the one in the wrong here and It would be unsightly for me to ask too much help of the injured party," I said, simply explaining why I had not asked him to help me with the rest. He then handed the bear back to me, and I positioned it in the best way I could so that it would most easily tie onto my back and handed him the rope, and let him attach it onto me. His hands brushed against a few sensitive areas, including my chest, as he did so, which caused me to blush and squirm a tiny bit as he did so, but since it seemed that it was obviously unintentional, I did not say a word to him about it, after all I was asking him a favor, I could not complain about how he was doing it.
He then stepped back and seemed to inspect his work a little, and asked if that would work. The knot was not the prettiest one I had seen, and was a tiny bit lopsided, but it seemed quite sturdy and would do the job fine. "It will do just fine, Mr. Ramirez, thank you for the help," I said before gathering up the rest of the plushies and putting them in the bags and picking them up. "If you are ready, let us head there so that we can get there before the lunch rush starts in earnest, I would hate to be waiting there for half an hour to get a table," I said, turning to walk in the direction that we were to head, but waiting for him to catch up.
When he did, I asked him a simple question to break the ice a little bit, "What brings a man like yourself to Lakecrest Ciry, Mr. Ramirez? I myself am here on assignment from the IACSB, and was just out to get some decorations for my residence, as they are far less strict here about personal affects in the dorms than they were at HQ, what about yourself?" I said, giving him a bright smile as we walked, trying to encourage him to pn up to me a little bit, after all he did seem the type to stay in his shell unless someone brought him out of it, and it would simply not do to leave him in it when we were about to have a pleasant meal together.

"Enforcer." Emilio replied to Arwen feeling as though he'd dodged a bullet in regards into how he'd spoken. She seemed to catch his meaning.
Fellow fire mage, eh? Well, couldn't hurt to have a practice buddy.
At least it meant the potential of maybe having someone to rein him in when he tried something more complex than your basic fireball in terms of difficulty and casting. That tended not to end well. It tended to end up a lot like the situation he'd encountered with Arwen. On his ass, squashed pizza rolls, and plushies strewn everywhere . . . well, at least the "on his ass" part.
"Well, if it bugs you that much, I won't turn down a free meal." Emilio replied to Arwen's explanation. It seemed a little rude, and if it really helped to put her mind at ease, what was the harm? It wasn't like this would start a complex chain of debt to one another. Or something. That happened in books sometimes, but it happening in real life seemed kind of unlikely.
The bit about not asking for help maybe seemed a little far though. "It's just pizza rolls." he reminded Arwen, since she seemed to think asking to pick up plushies was a bit out of bounds after causing him to squash his pizza rolls. It almost made Emilio feel bad about having fallen on his ass.
Arwen seemed pleased with the knot, but also seemed a bit flustered for some reason.
Wait . . . did I touch her . . . eh, probably nothing. Emilio wondered.
Well, Arwen had certainly squirmed as if maybe he'd accidentally brushed up against a few places.
Do I apologize? Do I just pretend it didn't happen? This is weird.
Thankfully, Arwen was heading towards the door and it sort of precluded the chance of anything awkward continuing to come up.
"Oh. I was just visiting. I heard there was a nice library here and I needed pizza rolls so I decided to check the library and get pizza rolls." Emilio replied to Arwen. It was the truth. There wasn't much more to say. Ineteresting that she was in the IACSB though.
Small talk . . . small talk . . . how do you small talk . . .
"So, I noticed the ears. Half elf I'm guessing?" Emilio asked.
Wait, no, that seemed wrong. That seemed really off. He wouldn't want someone commenting on his appearance and trying to guess his parentage . . . but he was also neurotic. Well, it had been said. No way to turn back now.

So Emilio was an enforcer it seemed, quite interesting. I guess his magic was combat oriented, I might be able to pick up a few things from him then, as a lot of what I knew was far more academic in nature, and only a few of my spells were combat viable. It would be interesting to compare notes and maybe spar a little. He then confirmed that he would take me up on my offer, and giving him a delighted smile and said, "Well then, it would not do to tarry, after all I had heard this place was rather popular," matching his pace, not wanting to go too fast as to make him feel uncomfortable as we walked. I
It seemed that he was here for the library in town, which I had heard was quite extensive, but I had not yet been there myself, which gave me an excellent idea. "How about we both go together after we eat? I myself was intrigued by it, and was hoping I could perhaps find some material about the Original Flame there to help further my family's research into recreating it," I said, giving him a bright smile before continuing, "After all, it is more fun to go somewhere with other people, don't you agree?" After waiting for a response, we walked for a bit before he brought up a subject of his own.
He mentioned that he had noticed my ears, and asked if he was correct in assuming that I was a half elf, though he looked a tad concerned after he said it, maybe worrying that he had stepped over a line, which was rather cute given how obvious it was that I was a half elf. In response, I chuckled a little bit and responded, "Yes, Mr. Ramirez, I am a half-elf. I find it rather amusing that you look a bit concerned that you brought it up, after all most people mention that first," I said, giving him a smile to reassure that he needn't worry, "My mother was an elf and my father was a magus. Their story is actually rather romantic, my mom ran away from her village to avoid a political marriage, and my father hid her from her family, and eventually fell in love and got married," I said, my mind filled with thoughts of maidenly romance, which was reflected a bit in my tone of voice and a bit of blushing.
After we walked for a bit, we made it to the Italian restaurant that I had mentioned. By the standards of the land, it was probably fairly fancy, but it was rather average to me, as my parents had only brought me to fairly high end restaurants for special occasions when I was a child. Soon, a waiter approached us, and I asked for a table for two and he quickly showed us to our seats and handed us a couple of menus before saying he would be back shortly to take our drink orders. I then untied the bear from my back so I could sit, sat down, and opened my menu, and decided to get a light aperitif white wine to go with my meal, I then looked over to Emilio and said, "Don't be shy, get whatever you want, my family is rather well off so don't worry about the cost, just get what you want and enjoy the meal. Do you know what you are going to get for a drink? I decided to go with a white wine aperitif myself," I finished, making sure to let him know that he didn't have to worry about my pocketbook, after all I had set up a discretionary fund for times like these, as I had a tendency to be a little out of it when I was distracted by other things.

Popular. Popular meant people. Emilio didn't do well with people. If going with Arwen was any judge, he was barely doing well with a person. A feeling of dread descended on Emilio like miasma made of molten lead. He started to become acutely aware of his own heritage once more.
"I actually already went, but going again would be fine." Emilio replied to Arwen. Wouldn't make much sense to buy pizza rolls then go to the library afterwards. Not much sense at all.
"You can just call me Emilio." Emilio stated to Arwen, noting her insistence on calling him "Mr. Ramirez," which just felt unwieldy. He'd been called Emilio, E, Ramirez, Señor Ramirez, and a number of jumbles of sounds by people who couldn't be bothered to try and pronounce his name, but Emilio just felt wrong. "Or just Ramirez would be okay too. The whole 'Mister' thing just seems wrong."
Emilio shifted apprehensively as they entered the restaurant and Emilio felt compelled to take off his hat to be polite. And of course, a scarf wouldn't do if they were eating. It suddenly occurred to Emilio he hadn't really thought this through, being as sensitive about his appearance as he was.
Wait, she said anything I want and not to worry about the cost . . . oh goddammit, is this one of those fancy places where the waiter has a towel draped over one arm?
Emilio couldn't help but feel a tad unprepared for that setting.
Well, if she's offering, may as well enjoy myself . . . as much as I can anyways.
He tucked the scarf inside of his ass and set it down under his seat as they were seated"I'll have a glass of red wine, I guess." Emilio said, slightly nervously, trying to make sure no one was staring, though in truth, they already had been. As much as Emilio felt safer covered up in all his layers, they didn't exactly prevent stares. Emilio tapped his fingers against the table slightly nervously. Doubtlessly, Arwen would be asking about Emilio's heritage now.
"Er, Kind of warm in here, maybe?" Emilio garbled out, slipping his coat off and hanging it over the back of his chair, slightly sloppily, showing just a plain gray T-shirt.
Erk! Is this too casual? I mean, it's just a t-shirt . . . I mean it's not like I had been planning to come here or anything it just sort of happened . . . egh. I really didn't think this through.
Emilio attempted at coming up with some form of small talk, but all he managed to choke out was, "So nice weather we're having, huh?"

It seems that Emilio had already went to the library, and mentioned that. How silly of me, of course you wouldn't go buy food before going to the library, especially if it was not be eaten at a restaurant. Before I had a chance to reply to that, however, he mentioned that he would rather just be called Emilio, and seemed rather uncomfortable with how I was referring to him, To which I said, "I did not intend to cause you discomfort, Emilio" Calling him by the name he has asked me to use, "I simply refer too most people I have just met as such, as I have been taught that some people would find it rude to call them by their first name immediately after meeting them," I said, explaining the reason I had been referring to him as such. "I apologize for any discomfort that may have caused, and I will make sure to refer to you as Emilio from here on out," I said, making sure to apologize for my unintentional rudeness and reassuring him that I would refer to him in the way he had specified from here on out.
After we sat down, he began to take off his hat and scarf, revealing that he was not exactly human, his mismatched hair giving away his nature as a Dhampir. He was a fellow hybrid as well, it seemed. However, I decided I would not comment on it, given the fact that he dressed the way he did and that he was rather nervous to be taking off his hat and scarf, nervously tapping at the table as he did. He then mentioned that he would have some red wine, and that did sound lovely, so I responded to him as such, "Well then, I might as well have that as well. Wine is much like tea, it is far better to be drinking the same kind with someone as to discuss your opinions on its flavor," I finished, giving him a bright smile. I was about to make a funny retort to his awkward comment that it was hot in here when the waiter arrived at the table, with a towel draped over one arm as expected of this class of restaurant, and asked us what kind of drinks we would like to start off with. I answered for the both of us, saying "We would like a bottle of the best vintage of red wine you have here, waiter," I said, giving him a bright smile, The waiter gave me a bit of a shocked look before realizing. I was serious and scurrying off to get us our wine.
I then decided to make a response to his comment about the heat, "As to your comment earlier about the heat, yes I do believe it is a bit warm in here. Though I am always a bit warm, as one of the long term side effects of being a fire mage as an elf is that you are always a tiny bit warm thanks to the fire mana in your body," I mentioned, removing the white shawl that was attached to my clothing and draping it elegantly over the chair behind me before looking over the menu a bit. There were so many different choices, but the chicken alfredo stood out to me, and I decided to get it, and putting down my menu I looked over to Emilio and said, "Do you have any idea about what you want to order, Emilio? I was thinking about getting the chicken alfredo pasta myself." I added a smile to the end, and made an effort to ignore the fact he was a dhampir, as he obviously seemed uncomfortable with it, especially letting others know about it. This made perfect sense to me, as he was a mage, and as far as I knew, Dhampire were infertile, so I could understand the stigma he probably had felt at being unable to pass on his family's lineage. So instead of judging him like others, I would most definitely try to not even think of him as a dhampir, but just another person, much like I did for all other hybrids. After all, no matter if one of your parents was human or both of them, or even none of them, we are all people and deserve to respected no matter our parentage.

Arwen's continued formality was starting to become slightly bothersome. Was Emilio not being clear that she didn't need to be so formal with him? Was it really just that reflexive? Well, it probably was just that reflexive and Emilio didn't think he could honestly fault Arwen for that. From the sound of things, she came from a rather traditional family . . . aside from the hybrid bits. Emilio couldn't help but briefly wonder what growing up like that would be like. "You don't need to be so formal about it. Just drop the 'Mr.' bit and it's fine." Emilio replied to Arwen's apology. "Mistakes happen. It's not like you did anything wrong. I just don't like being called 'Mr.' is all." Hopefully that would clear things up. If not, they were obviously just two different people with two entirely different methodologies and Emilio could accept that Arwen wa sprobably the better adjusted of the two. Maybe.
"Not much of a tea drinker, personally. I prefer coffee." Emilio stated, offhandedly. It was nice to start the morning with, to say the least, and what was to stop anyone from having it later in the day too? It also perfectly accompanied a good doughnut. What wasn't to like about coffee. "I can see where you'd be right about wine." Emilio stated, trying to be somewhat helpful, though he didn't really know. He had wine he'd liked and didn't. He didn't really discuss it with people, then again he also didn't typically share meals with people. He usually just ate alone, either in his apartment or in the back corner of a reasonably priced pub or restaurant.
Emilio sputtered a bit at Arwen's request regarding the wine. He didn't eat out often, but he knew Wine could get very expensive very quickly, especially when someone included words like "fine" and "vintage."
How much would this one bottle be? $200? $300?
"Well off" seemed to not do Arwen's family justice if she could offhandedly order something.
The menu had a wide array of food, some of which Emilio knew of and some he didn't. He supposed something that might go well with the wine might be nice enough, and he'd like to try something new. "I think the cotoletta looks good." Emilio replied to Arwen. The alfredo did look nice too though . . . something a bit heavier would seem to compliment the red wine in Emilio's mind though. The description sounded like it would be that way anyways. "I might just ask the waiter to make a recommendation though."
In truth, Emilio was starting to relax a little as other patrons went back to their food and the waiter seemed too distracted by the wine order to make any note of his heritage. It did honestly help that Arwen didn't decide to bring it up, which did make Emilio feel a little worse for having asked about her elven heritage, but nothing he could do now. Emilio's fingers eventually stopped moving on the table and he sort of just settled in a bit, though wasn't totally relaxed.

In response to my apology, he simply said that I had done nothing wrong, but he just didn't feel comfortable being called Mr., That was a relief, I had not offended him by calling him as such, thank goodness. I could not live with myself if I had inconvenienced him so. I simply gave a sigh of relief and responded, "Thank goodness, I had thought that I had somehow offended you by referring to you as such, Emilio," I said, giving him a happy smile, "I am always unsure if what I am doing is proper etiquette in this land, after all, I was raised in a secluded area of Britain, cut off from the outside world. So what many consider as common sense and everyday skills are often terribly difficult for me, like using a computer or anything else more complicated than kitchen appliances," I said, my ears drooping as I remembered the many times I had inconvenienced poor Edwin with my issues with my computer in the offices. I wonder if he would be sent out here as well? I quickly put that thought aside and returned my attention to Emilio, after all it was rude to not be paying attention to the person whom you were having dinner with and get lost in your own thoughts.
Emilio then commented that he was more of a coffee drinker than a tea drinker, and that he could see where I could be right about wine. So Emilio was a coffee drinker like my father and Alfred it seemed. I would have to make sure I had good coffee beans at my new place, and made sure to add that to my mental list of things to pick up in the days to come, which included plenty of food, tea, and other amenities for for my apartment. I would have to drop these plushies off at home first before I could do any of that, however. Returning to the subject at hand, however I responded to Emilio, saying "Ah, so you are a coffee drinker like my father then. I myself do not partake in it much, however I always make sure to have a good french press and quality beans in case any of my house guests happen to prefer it over tea. Perhaps you could come over some time and we could discuss the finer points of our craft over a nice drink?" I then gave him a bit of a delighted smile, showing that I was quite ecstatic at the thought of being able to talk to a fellow fire mage about my craft. After all, it was not every day that I met a fellow fire mage.
As for what we would order to eat, Emilio mentioned that the Cotoletta looked good, but he would probably wait to see if the waiter had a recommendation as to what would be good with the wine. That was an excellent idea, and to that end, I closed my menu and responded, "That is a fantastic idea, Emilio. I do believe I will simply ask the waiter to bring out an appetizer, main dish, and a dessert that the chef recommends to go with the wine. My father and mother used to do that every once in a while when they were feeling adventurous, so I feel it would be a splendid idea. Would you like to do so as well, Emilio?" I asked, giving him a bright smile. Having a dinner with another person was far better than alone for sure, after all, food was better with more people, and the more you had the better it was.
After I said that, I noticed that Emilio had become significantly more relaxed, not completely at home, but it seemed like he was far more comfortable than when he had first taken his hat and scarf off. It seemed that my decision not to mention his heritage had been the right one after all, as a lot of his worries were probably his wondering how I would take his heritage, as he was the spawn of a vampire and a human, and that most people would be rather off-put by that fact. However, as a fellow hybrid, I could sympathize. While elves did not get nearly as much scorn as his kind, it was still noticeable if you ran into more ignorant people. I was just glad that I was able to give him a positive experience with other people, instead of driving him further away. It very much made this worth my while for sure.

Arwen went on to explain why she was so wordy in her politeness . . . once again in an entirely too wordy manner. It was slightly irksome, but easy enough to take in stride. To each their own. She was obviously well meaning in how she went about things. "Maybe that's a small blessing for me then. I never really learned etiquette that much, so I've never really been all that bothered by it." Emilio replied to Arwen. He didn't give quite as much away about himself, but he still felt like he was sharing a bit of something about himself with her. That sort of seemed fair.
The offer to visit Arwen's home was kind enough, though Emilio had to be honest about Arwen's potential pretense for the visit. "I could come over if you want. I'm not sure how much I have to discuss though." Emilio commented. It wasn't like there was much that he did in terms of finesse. He typically lugged a mass of flame at something and if that didn't kill it, a spear or his sword tended to pick the work up from there. It wasn't that he lacked strategy, it was just the strategy he typically found most effective. Most things, least of all vampires, tended to react well to being lit on fire. Emilio had some personal experience in that regard due to his childhood. "I guess we could just visit as friends. My apartment's sorta cramped, but you're welcome to visit." Could he call Arwen a friend that quickly now? Yeah, he probably could. She was nice enough, if not very verbose in her kindness. A bit of a pain, but that was life.
Arwen made a suggestion just to order a set of courses that would match up well with the wine and Emilio nodded once in agreement. "Yeah, that sounds good." Emilio replied to Arwen's suggestion. She could obviously foot whatever bill he ended up, so he didn't feel particularly bad if the bill ended up racked up inadvertently. There also seemed to be a number of options that would go well with red wine. Due to Emilio's somewhat sheltered existence, he didn't have much of a grasp on wine pairings aside from that red wine went with red meat and white wine went with white meat. He hadn't the slightest idea about the subtleties of pairings, so it really was probably best just to ask the waiter about the best pairings for things.

I hate you.Lili had enjoyed her day thus far. It’d been pleasant to be out and about. Honestly, she’d originally hoped to catch up with Arwen after finding out she was out of the office; but since then she’d ended up on her own little exploration expedition about this odd city. It was very different to her home in Germany… hot! Very hot! She missed the snow already! But, that was sort of nice in its own way, wasn’t it? Still, it had been a bit of experience trekking around so far. I hate you.Of course, the best part was getting lunch! She’d gotten hers early, as usual – she tended to take her time in chowing done; a girl who would relish every bite… and relish it she did! As a half-wolf who liked beating thing with her bare hands, having enough energy was important! And, nothing was better for her muscles than meat… also, being so canine made it all the sweeter. And what was the best meat for a simple mind like Lili? Fast food, of course! How the hell did Arwen enjoy upper class garbage when there was something so amazing for so cheap?! She was insane, even by Lili’s standards. Honestly, if she wasn’t so nice… I hate you.And so, it’d brought Lili to her current situation, her remaining bucket of friend chicken wings still being toted under one arm – two down, one to go. But, her appetite had been distracted by a particular blonde… she could just about smell that tea fragrance on her from down the street. She’d disappeared into some stupid restaurant with some brat… and now they were taking a table together! B-Buying wine?! She had gifts, too! W-W-What was going on?! The werewolf was pressed up against the glass by now, brimming with rage. She barely restrained herself from just slamming her fists on the window – ”I hate you!” snarled the wannabe werewolf to herself as the deafened discussion played out before her… Arwen was hers! This wasn’t happening! This wasn’t happening! This wasn’t happening! This wasn’t – wait… hm. A pair of tiny fangs slipped through Lili’s jaws; adding to a tiny hint of a smirk that fell upon her usual grim expression. This WOULDN’T happen! ==== A notebook gently fell open before the redressed girl after it was extracted from her new pants’ pocket, glancing over the order – hm, she hardly knew what any of these words meant. But, there was a bottle of wine set aside back at the kitchen, so it was probably about right. Whatever. Drink was drink; especially when it came to fancy junk like this. Arwen was an idiot for fussing over stuff like this. But, that was part of what made her so interesting… maybe she should try alcohol again sometime after all. Thankfully, the unfortunate waiter whom had met an unlikely accident behind the store had a similarly meek height and stature to Lili, and thus her formal uniform made for a rather neat fit – and honestly, Lili thought she looked rather nice in this uniform. White dress shirt, black waistcoat, black dress pants, and a cute red tie; it was a good look. Admittedly, the pants were a bit tight, but… maybe Arwen would appreciate that. Of course, she wasn’t so callous to ruin the moment by murdering her new doppelganger – no, the poor young lady was just going to have an extended nap in a dumpster for now. Psychopathic as she was, Lili wasn’t keen on making a bad name for herself here already. Luckily for Lili, the busy kitchen gave her plenty of room to sneak on through with the bottle and head to HER date’s table – and that bastard sitting by it. Slipping through the doors, the white-haired girl still managed to stick out like a sore thumb with her stoic expression and forceful strides… maybe Arwen would know her well enough to notice a slightly more furrowed brow on the hybrid than the look she usually wore. Or, maybe she’d just be oblivious to that as well. ”Your wine, Miss and… boy.” remarked Lili as she approached the pair’s table; sending Emilio a quick glare while Arwen was treated with at least cordial respect by the wolf’s standards – points for effort, right? ”Are you ready to order? If you haven’t already?” asked the girl, with about as much tact as usual. Eh, at least she bothered to check if they had or not already. That was more effort than this scumbag deserved as it was.

I see, so Emilio had not been raised in a very formal environment. I guess it stands to reason ,as he probably has his own family circumstances being a mage who is also a dhampir that is. It was fairly unlikely that he was the heir because of it, and it was also probable that he had been kicked out, such was the fate of many hybrids. Cast out of their homes or society, and forced to carve their own way in the world without any support, any community. I was once again acutely aware of my own fortuity to be of a race that was generally mostly human, and that I had such a loving and supporting family, a place where I belonged. From Emilio's behavior, at least to me, it didn't seem like he had that place, and that he had secluded himself in large part due to his heritage. This made it all the more special when he referred to me as a friend, and said that while we wouldnt have much to discuss as mages, as I assumed he did not have much finesse as an enforcer, and he might be self taught as well, being a dhampir. Or at the very least he probably was not very well educated. That did not matter however, as I was still quite overjoyed that he would refer to me as a friend so quickly.
Showing my joy I gave him a bright smile and said, "Of course, Emilio. I would be glad for you to come by and we could chat just as friends would. It is a bit embarrassing to say this, but you really are the first man to ever call me a friend," I said, looking down a little embarrassed about my inexperience. "So if I do not have things at my apartment that would be good entertainment for men, I do apologize. As I said, I am a bit sheltered, so the only sort of relationship I have had with men is that of either servants, my family, and now coworkers. As such, I am both excited and a bit anxious about this new experience, Emilio," I said, while looking at him and giving him a bright smile, to show that while I was a tad uncomfortable, it was nothing bad, just the normal anxiety that came with a new experience.
After composing myself a little bit, I also replied to his agreement about asking the chef what would go well with the wine, and I responded to him as such, "Great, I think you will very much enjoy the experience. After all, nobody knows best what goes together than the chef who made it themselves! When the waiter gets here I will let them know that we will have whatever the chef recommends, but to make it a full course meal," I said, explaining what I would be doing when the waiter came back. Before he had a chance to reply, however, it seemed that the waiter had shown up. However, it was not the same one as before, and what was most surprising was who exactly had shown up. It was none other than my dear partner Lili! She looked positively adorable with her outfit, and she brought out the wine we had ordered, however, as usual, her manners were a tiny bit lacking, and I decided I would make a note of it.But first, I would praise her for taking my advice to get out and get a job so she could socialize more! There was no way she was going to meet a good man if she sat around inside cleaning her gun all day.
"Lili! I'm glad you decided to take my advice and get out a bit more! How long have you been working here>" I asked, before realizing I should introduce her to Emilio, and vice versa. "However, before that, I would like you to meet someone. Lili, this is Emilio Ramirez de Valencia, and hes an enforcer in the mages guild. I accidentally bumped into him as I was leaving the plushie shop, and I ruined what he was going to be getting for dinner, so I insisted that I treat him instead," I said, giving a brief explanation of how Emilio and I met before moving to introduce Lili to Emilio. "Emilio, this is my partner Lili von Brandt, shes a Werewolf hybrid, and we met three months ago," I said, before clarifying, "Shes also a member of the IACSB, and I am officially her handler, she can be a bit moody so they like to have someone keep an eye on her, but shes a very nice girl when you get to know her, now play nice you two." I said, noting that Lili tended to be a bit hostile to other people who were around me for some reason, maybe it was her canine instinct to be protective of the person she considered her master?
With the introductions done I returned my attention to Lili and said, "While I really would like to chat a bit more, I do not want to get you in trouble with your boss, so I will give you our order, it should be simple enough. We would like a full course meal, and we would like whatever the chef recommends to go with our wine. Just tell him that, and bring us whatever he makes for us. A nice simple order," I said, giving her a little pat on the head, "Now hurry up, I would hate to think I got you in trouble. And try to be a bit more polite to people, calling Emilio boy was ab it rude you know!" I said, giving her a little scolding so she would remember to be a bit more polite, but it was for her own good. It would not do for her to get fired because she was being impolite to customers.

Arwen was shockingly sincere about a number of manners, which was sort of jarring to a certain extent. Emilio wasn't exactly used to that in his relationships. Mostly he just did his thing and didn't really bother what people said unless it was constructive criticism. This was different though. Arwen showed genuine concern for someone she barely knew. It was kind of nice. "Eh, I'm not that hard to entertain. I just read mostly really. What do people do together anyways? Like board games or something?" Emilio replied to Arwen about her apartment and her relationship with mean. He didn't really did communal activities other than talk all that much. And conversation tended to be him listening intently and nodding occasionally with most people.
The Waitress (who Emilio noted was a totally different person) definitely seemed a bit hostile and there was something about her that made the hair on Emilio's neck stand on end a little. It was probably just paranoia . . . she seemed to be leering at him more intently than most people in the restaurant. The feeling unsettled Emilio.
Then it turned out she and Arwen knew each other, which seemed sort of coincidental. Not too weird. Weird things happened all the time. Mages tended to earn early on that 1 in a million occurrences happened 9/10 times.
"Pleased to meet you. You can call me Emilio or Ramirez, whichever suits you better." Emilio offered to Lili. He quickly followed up with a "Oh and um, pleased to meet you . . . Lili? Can I call you Lili?" The Werewolf hybrid tidbit might explain why he felt vaguely on edge around, Lili, but it was something different. He'd fought Vampires with Werewolf servants before, but they didn't quite give him the same sense of danger that came off of Lili. They didn't seem to cosntantly glare at him in the same way. No . . . this was something different.
Wait something was off . . . was it . . . "Er, why does your name tag say Samantha on it?" Emilio asked. That seemed rather odd, but mix-ups probably happened among the staff at a restaurant all the time. That seemed kind of logical.
Then Arwen started shooing Lili off to get back to work. "Um, wait! Why don't you see if you can get a break and join us for the meal. The more the merrier. Or something. That's what people say in this sort of situation right? I can foot your bill if Arwen isn't comfortable paying for three." Emilio stated, glancing about to see if there was a free chair to add to the table. Lili sort of gave him the creeps, but how bad could anyone Arwen called a friend really be? Lili honestly didn't seem that bad, just sort of blunt, maybe. That wasn't a crime worth getting angry over.
