May 16, 10:46 P.M. It was an usual breezy night in San Francisco. The busy noises of mingling people through its public streets filled the ears. Rush hour has ended a couple of hours ago, but the city continues to be lively as it ever has. There was a lull of footsteps and train wheels coming from the subterranean levels of the B.A.R.T. stations. that dotted sparingly through the streets. It was an idyllic Friday night as the local bars and restaurants were quickly becoming replete with craving patrons. The Lounge was definitely no different as a night club. People, of all races, frequented the establishment. It wasn't just humans, but also many Mystic Kind visited to enjoy what debauchery The Lounge could offer. Your standard pale vampire was a welcome visitor like any person, same with any ogre who wished to get wasted. No one really bat an eye at each other despite the wide variety of appearances. The club's openness was no surprise given the owner's own condition as a vampire. There was a considerable line that stood before the towering bouncer attired in a formal black suit and with an equally dark tie that hung around his neck. The behemoth of a man appeared more of a butler with his silk white gloves. But he stood as a stony-faced judge who decided who got to be inside and who didn't. Those who caused problems usually ended up being on the receiving end of his ruthless throws and smirks. A rude obnoxious ogre was clearly subject to this as he even continues to be buried headfirst into the pile of trash bags near the building across the street. Nevertheless, it didn't change the fact that the line was still lengthy to the point that it had already stretched out towards a corner away from the entrance. It may even take all night, unless another way is found. While a number of means maybe found, the thick metallic doors continued to vibrate from the muffled music that raged behind them.
MISSION OBJECTIVES
- Find and speak to Luke Welner
OOC Note: Just post in here. I'll make the ending post in the last thread later.

As it turned out, Padma had heard of the Lounge. She didn’t know all that many people in San Francisco yet, but before leaving New York a friend of hers had mentioned something about a pretty inclusive club that a lot of mystic kind and half-breeds frequented on the weekends. She of course liked to party just as much as the next girl, but in this case it had been mentioned more as a source of valuable connections than anything else. San Francisco was pretty good about accepting her kind most of the time, but she still needed friends. Friends were protection. Hell, that was part of the reason she’d gone to Rohan, though she’d needed education from him just as much as she’d needed an ally in her battle against the Church. Thus far it was pretty…one sided. They’d kicked her ass. Next time they were likely to finish her off. She knew that, and yet here she was, about to put herself in their path as part of this mission. Awesome.
The line was too long. If they tried waiting then they wouldn’t get in tonight, and that wasn’t an option. She parked Vivi at the side of the road just a few blocks down from the building and paused for a moment to think. What they needed was a good trick – an illusion. She was obviously pretty decent at that sort of thing, and it definitely seemed safer than trying to talk somebody into letting them in.
Given the area they were in, she felt relatively safe dropping the illusion that had been keeping her appearance “normal” since they’d first set out for the coffee shop. All at once Padma’s fingernails elongated into ten metallic, sharp points. Her teeth did as well, though they never got quite as long – the tips of her eyeteeth could, however, be seen peeking out of her mouth even before she began to speak.
“Don’t freak out.” She said quickly, eyeing Shaw in particular. Rohan had never seen her in Rak mode, but Shaw likely hadn’t had any idea that she was a mixed blood to begin with. “I figure an illusion could help us get in. If I’m going to plan one, it’s better if I stop cloaking myself.”
Her eyes, which were now a lot brighter than normal eyes had any business being, went back to the line and the mix of people standing in it. “Plus I figure we actually fit in a little bit better now, right?”

Shaw made sure to acquire the numbers from Demi and the apparent martial artist by the name of Rohan before he departed. He also nodded his head at the fact that he would be riding with the rest of the group. Well, i did say that having each others contacts was a necessity, but that doesn't mean we would be splitting up so suddenly. It’s best if we go together, no clue what might be up against.”
------------------------------------------------------------
Surprisingly so, this “Lounge” place was seemingly popular, there was a long line that Shaw apparently found himself on. There were all sorts of faces around here, this club definitely had a particular level of diversity. “Being on this line makes me wonder where my teenage years all went. “ Shaw would make small jest and a smile, but it quickly turned into a straight face once he saw Padma’s transformation.”...........................................................................” She was a mixed blood this entire time? Wasn't that useful information in order t provide them at the meeting, they were going up against the church for crying out loud, this only gives them a reason to edge them on if anything. He didn't freak out, he remained calm, but he was still surprised. When she mentioned an illusion of some sort, Shaw shook his head as he looked at them both, while standing behind padma. “ Well, i certainly give off the privileged Caucasian male vibe if anything, if there's one thing about clubs, having money is a factor for buying drinks, but i don't suggest any alcohol indulgence tonight. “ Shaw would speak in a low tone as he he looked at Rohan. “ Well, if this could be any more cliche, Padma would be flirting with the bartender while we walk in, but i doubt it'll be that easy. I would also rather that Padma not resort to anything degrading......... what do you think Rohan?" Shaw had the right mind to quickly analyze the bouncer in order to look for the right approach, bu he was working with a team this time around. It's better to get all of their input before acting.

One day Rohan's heart was just going to up and give out on him, and he had half-Rakshasi to thank for that. The sudden, albeit relatively minor, changes she underwent as she dropped her illusions caused Rohan to perform a double take as he took an extra moment to process what he was seeing. It had hardly occurred to him that she might undergo physical changes at night not entirely of her own choosing, and since she had done a good job so far hiding them he hadn't spent much time thinking about it. It made sense, all things considered, but it was still something he had to rapidly process. He tried not to tense up terribly visibly-- It bothered her when she thought he was bothered by her Rakshasi nature. Or so he thought, anyway. While she glanced at Shaw when she said it, her reassurance not to freak out at least confirmed this wasn't some random change happening in her and that she was still in control of what was going on.
As her eyes turned toward the line in front of the bustling Nightclub, Rohan averted his eyes toward it as well, moving it away from staring at her. It was impolite to stare, after all.
"What did you have in mind?"
Back to business. There was no way they were getting inside that place if they actually got in line: Rohan couldn't even see where the bloody thing ended. Not to mention how relentlessly boring that sounded. Really, waiting in line? He'd pass out from boredom before they even made it half way up. And that's assuming the dude at the front even let them in. And it's not like they could just clock the bouncer and walk in, that would cause a racket and they only wanted to talk to an informant after all. But try as he might, Rohan never was much of a planner or strategist. Even at Shaw's attempt to muster an idea out of him, he merely shrugged out a response.
"Getting into Night Clubs isn't really my forte."
That said, he wasn't sure he liked the idea of Padma having to flirt with anyone to get in. Or that the idea was brought up, really. After all, she was a startlingly good illusionist and he hardly thought flirting was anywhere near the most effective way to get inside, especially given that countless people probably tried that each night. It was so mundane. Once again, the fact that the comment was meant mostly jokingly sailed over the poor bastards head, as he spent a little too much time judging the idea.
"I'll follow your lead-- But the less flashy, the better."

Padma frowned. She wasn’t the best flirt – too crass. She supposed that she could be if she really, really needed to be, but this wasn’t going to be one of those times. There were a thousand ways to get past this guy that didn’t involve waving her tits in his face, at least in theory. For a moment she found herself thinking back to her sisters and how they’d have handled this were they around. Probably…messily, and that just wasn’t her style. She wasn’t much of a strategist, though, and so while she could create an illusion she was never exactly sure where she ought to place it.
And ‘flashy’ could mean a lot of things. She had a feeling that what she had in mind wasn’t necessarily what Rohan, or Shaw, or anybody was picturing. Still, no risk no reward. If it didn’t work they could try something else. In theory.
“…Right. Okay. I got an idea.” She said, glancing a little to the left of the line.
This wasn’t going to be a large illusion, and so it wouldn’t be difficult. It would however require attention to detail that she had only recently become accustomed to. She supposed she owed Rohan for that. So much of what she could do as a Rakshasi had to be precise, and precision is difficult when enraged.
In a moment a figure appeared just a block or so away from the line – close enough to see, certainly, but also far enough that you’d need to go just a little bit closer to confirm that it was indeed who it looked like. It was, or at least appeared to be, a certain musician and a pair of bodyguards that looked exactly the way that Padma expected that celebrity bodyguards might look. Perhaps if they could convince the line that there was a celebrity close by, they’d end up much closer to the front…
“Oh my god!” Padma all but screeched, pointing at her newly created illusion “Is that Beyoncé?”

Body language was easy to decipher when it came to Shaw suggesting that Padma use her feminine charm to get through. they were uncomfortable with the idea, which was understandable. It was only a suggestion to begin with, so he hoped that they wouldn't take it so seriously. Anyway, getting in this club definitely wasn’t Shaw’s forte for the time being, so the only valid choice left available to him was to follow Padma’s lead.
“Beyonce?! Really?! “ Shaw would play along, making sure that he kept his voice quite genuine considering the fact that he was supposed to be surprised at the fact that a famous celebrity was few blocks away. “ He had half of a mind to mention the baby, but he figured that it would make people less inclined to see the celebrity if she had her family with him. Either way, when Padma said illusion, he was half surprised that a ki artist would be capable of that, even though she was a mixed breed, so the genuinity of his surprised expression was still there for the moment.

Padma's exclamation caused heads to turn towards the entourage that the not-Beyonce had following her. The hubbub of humans and Mystic Kind grew to an excited fever pitch as they started to scramble out of the line and across the street towards the famous celebrity. Perhaps there were some squeals here or there, but not one of them questioned why she was here. They had to get to her and possibly get her to pose in their selfies so they could post about it on Facebook. The burly suited bodyguards stood in front of her as they tried to keep them away from her for her safety.
A good majority of the line has been cut down by the absence of the party-goers. In fact, there are only a scant few who stayed behind with enough wisdom to know that an incoming horde of humans and Mystic Kind doesn't really end up too well. But, the opportunity is there and so was the butler/bouncer that can now be visibly seen as he had just taken off his jacket onto the chair near him. A couple of people left in the line were led inside as a reward for their patience and dedication for entrance. Now, all that is left are the trio sent by Gough as the door was held open for them to enter. The loud noise of music could be heard as if it were an open maw of modern debauchery. However, just as they would reach to the very end of the line, the bouncer eyed the sheathed katana that nestled near Shaw's hip. "Excuse me, sir. Weapons are not allowed on these premises. If you would please hand them to the attendant inside, he will hold onto it until you leave. He nodded at another "butler" who was just waiting for them with what is clearly a forced smile. This employee clearly didn't want to be here, but wasn't going to say much about it if he could help it. Behind it was the prize. Soft blue lights were aplenty and so were the number of people that occupied the space. The more energetic music that had a presence here is now more mellow. The young bodies, that twisted with the boundless energy before, now danced to the slow relaxing beat. OOC: Figured I'd post in since it's a bit more appropriate in this way. So up to you guys if you want to keep the order again. Or if Shaw should post next since he has to be the one giving the sword to the attendant.

It turned out that Padma’s plan worked alot better than he thought it did, which made Shaw smile a bit. This brought the group a lot closer to the club entrance, but then there was quite a depressing moment of truth when it came to some Ki practitioners and others. Shaw focused more on weapons, so of course he would have to be the one to be unarmed in a club full of all kinds of supernatural individuals. However, Shaw simply nodded his head and went over to the receptionist with a neutral look on his face.
“Hold on to this for me. ‘ Shaw would say as he surrendered his weapon to the staff of his club as well as receiving somewhat of a ticket just in case. Shaw made sure to take a good note of the club around them, the two butlers, and this receptionist he was talking to now. Maybe they weren't persons of interest but who knows if or when that information might be useful. Afterwards, Shaw proceeded back to the group. “ i don't think i’ll be much help if a fight breaks out but if there is a v.i.p section, wouldn't that be a good place to check?” Shaw would then point at the stairs. ‘Assuming its up there

"...Who's Beyonce?"
It's not that Rohan had never heard of the celebrity before, but considering how little attention he paid to Hollywood these days, or the news, it slipped his mind exactly who the illusion even was. If given an explanation of who she was and a picture he'd probably recognize her just from peripheral knowledge gained of her, but couldn't attach a name to a face, even with that face projected a fair way down the street by his Rakshasi companion. He did ask for nothing flashy, and he guessed this didn't qualify, but remained a neutral expression despite it's success. He was hoping to be more subtle, as such an exclusive club that was obviously in tune with the magical might notice something fishy fairly quickly, but that just meant they had to work fast, he supposed.
And besides, he couldn't argue with results. It was a better plan than any he had come up with.
He stayed behind his compatriots as they shuffled to the front of the line unhindered by the crowd chasing a delusion. It was almost trivial how easy this was. It wasn't long before they stood directly before the bouncer: Who seemed like more of a butler than a bouncer really. It was rather odd, why would they have a butler guard the door? Or rather, why would the guard look like a butler? Did they think he looked more intimidating that way? It really seemed to make him look more meek than anything. Which was fine, since the bouncer seemed more than capable of physically keeping people out of the bar... but why go through the extra hassle? It'd just encourage more people to pick a fight with the bouncer thinking they could muscle in, and that'd just be an annoyance...
Hm. Questions to ponder later.
They entered the Night Club, and Rohan was somewhat pleasantly surprised. He had expected bright, flashing lights in a dark smoky room, with the heavy thud of music with far too much bass pounding his senses. Instead, it seemed rather... mellow, and subdued. Arguably still dark, but illuminated by soft blue light that provided enough light that it shouldn't impede his vision if anything were to occur. He hardly noticed Shaw relieve himself of his weapon, though took note of his comments. Grandfather had always said that was the problem with weapons: "A man who masters a weapon is deadly when armed, but a man who can kill with his hands is never unarmed." Or something like that. It seemed a lot more poetic when he said it. And while Rohan didn't plan on killing anyone tonight, the point remained that hopefully there was no altercation within the club tonight, or Shaw may be vulnerable. It would be best if it didn't come to that.
That said, the young Ki Artist had no idea where they were going. Shaw suggested the upstairs VIP section, but was unsure if that was even the correct area. So, he defaulted to Padma, the resident "expert" of the three. Rohan actually wasn't sure how familiar she was with night clubs in general, but it was more than the 0 experience he had so he figured it'd be best to rely on her judgement for this.
"Upstairs, then?"
Another thought occurred to him.
"Wait, wouldn't we need to be... well, VIPs to get into the VIP section...?"

The longer that Padma spent with Rohan the more obvious it became that he wasn’t exactly ‘with it’, so to speak. He was pretty dedicated to his craft, and his grandpa, and a bunch of other things that she couldn’t pretend that she understood, so she guessed that it made sense that he was often times a little bit behind when it came to pop culture references. But…Beyoncé? How did he not know Beyoncé? She was like two steps away from being an honorary avatar of Vishnu. She stared at him with wide eyes as if he’d just admitted to murder and very nearly said something, but they were on a tight schedule. That could wait. For now.
Once inside Shaw was made to give up his sword and the three of them were left standing around awkwardly in this relatively tame club while they waited for something to happen. This place was a bit classier than she was used to. Slow-ish music, butlers, it didn’t smell like weed…it was actually kind of intimidating. She was anything but high class and while she appreciated that there was a place like this that welcomed her kind as well as humans, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was going to get tossed out a window if she lingered even a second longer than she had to. Not because of the hybrid thing – because she was…well, because she was Padma. She more or less repelled fancy things.
They probably did want to get upstairs, but it wasn’t going to be as easy as that. This guy they were looking for was too important for dweebs like them. Still, it wouldn’t be impossible. At least, she hoped not.
“Well, kinda.” She said. “It’s not like you can’t become a VIP. You just gotta look like somebody that the owner actually wants to talk to.”
Crossing her arms over her chest, she added; “That said, I have no frikkin’ clue how we’re gonna do that.”

I don't think there's anything wrong with my attire, kind of in between of being classy and in a professional setting. However, do the clothes really make the man? I would say that the way that we look wont matter as long as we have charisma. But if we want to rely on Padma's illusions again, isn't it better if we hold onto it until we really need it? We're in, lets make this work for us. " Shaw looked at the two and sighed as he fiddled with his gloves. "I'll take point if no one has a problem with it. Lets try heading upstairs, the worst opposition that we face is a bouncer or another butler. Who knows, maybe with a bit of conversation and we find that he isn't up there..."
Shaw would say as he motioned forward to make his way up the stairs to the supposed V.I.P section, which is also an assumption that it is the V.I.P section to begin with. "It starts with a single thought, maybe acting like you belong here might better our standing.

As the party were to make an advance towards the stairs, the music continued to blare out the relaxing song and people continued to mingle with each other. But someone would come to approach them as they are about to make their way towards the stairs. A pale man, in black with long hair stretching past his shoulders, looked at each one with a smile. He was composed with each step drawing him closer to the trio as the strobe lights now started to flash the club with a variety of colors . "Heard you guys want to head up to the V.I.P. floor, right?" he asked them curiously with hands on his hips, "So what do you want with the Boss?"

"Look like somebody he wants to talk too..."
Rohan muttered the repetition of Padma's statement under his breath, contemplating how they'd accomplish that. He really couldn't think of any reason this guy would want to talk to them. It's not like they were here to offer him anything, nor did he think the vampire would particularly care about their mission. Unless the Mages Guild had already worked out a deal with him? But then he'd have known they were coming, there wouldn't have been a need to sneak in. So what could they possibly offer that a Vampire would want? Information of their own? Did they even have information? He tilted his head as he worked it out in his head, almost completely missing the fact that someone approached and spoke to them.
"Ah?'
Shit, think fast Rohan. THINK FAST.
"...To ask him things?'
Rohan wasn't great at lying. He was even worse under pressure. He blurted out the truth before he really had a chance to think of a convincing lie. In hindsight, letting one of the other two answer instead might have been smarter: Both of them seemed to have a better grasp of what to do then Rohan. Unfortunately he'd kind of cut them off before they had a chance to respond. Unfortunate, in case either of them was going to try to lie their way past the guy. Their options for deceit were now extremely limited. It was a stupid move and he knew it the moment he said it, but unfortunately you can't retract sentences once they've already left your mouth.
Hopefully the other two were better at improv.

A pale man, the easier assumption would be that this man was not human. However, he could simply be albino or carry some sort of skin condition, that wasn't impossible in the least. However, saying that they wanted something with the boss would mean that they knew of their intention beforehand, but how?"......" When Rohan kind of flubbed under pressure, Shaw coughed loudly and started to keep his cool. " That's quite the assumption to say that we were looking for your boss, assuming we are talking about the same person? However, if we are, your boss seems to know things, and we all know that information doesn't come cheap. Would any business man deny doing business with someone?
Shaw said no names, it was best if they tread lightly under enemy territory. especially under the fact that he did not contain his weapon this time around. To own such a successful club, it might of been a stretch to say that this man was quite serious about his business franchise. Even when it comes to a simple meet involving selling information, Shaw just wanted to take it known that the approaching party already came with the assumption that none of this was going to be free in the slightest.

If the guy that approached them was a vampire, then he was perhaps the most stereotypical-looking vampire that Padma had ever seen. It was like he’d wandered out of a romance novel or something. She was a little caught up in that, mesmerized by that ridiculously shiny long hair, when he asked them what they were doing there. Honestly she wasn’t sure how to phrase it exactly. She was surprised that they’d been approached at all – at every other club that she’d ever been to, you didn’t get approached simply because you’d mentioned wanting to go upstairs.
And Rohan…wasn’t great under pressure. But it wasn’t like he’d lied. Sometimes you didn’t need to lie. For their sakes she hoped that this was one of those times, because she wasn’t exactly fantastic at sounding smart under pressure either. Maybe Shaw was. She honestly couldn’t tell. He’d said something about businessmen and exchanging ideas. Whatever. They could work with it.
“Uh, what he said.” She said, smiling awkwardly. “So yeah – does he have like fifteen minutes?”
