Facino Marchesi A call for arms was given to a number of the Church's agents. A solitary man of God re-adjusted his glasses and patiently waited. Only the sound of his finger tapping against the walnut wood of the desk could be heard. The projection, the presentation, and everything needed for this briefing was set up with the dutiful effort of this establishment's clergy. The number of necessary folders were already spread out towards each seat on the table before him. Facino only needed to wait for the agents he was assigned to. He glanced at the window and let his eyes meander at the ongoing traffic of believers that visited Vatican City. It was hard to tell what this priest thought as his face was expressionless. The Clergyman was attired in traditional priestly garment of a dark black frock which accentuated his white clerical collar. He seemed old, perhaps somewhere in the fifties as creases of age were apparent on his face along with his gray hair and goatee. Facino had gone through this song and dance many times now. The venerable Clergyman wondered how long he would keep this up. But the door opened and his reverie was broken. It seemed someone has finally arrived. He jerked an awkward lop-sided grin at the direction of the newcomers. "Hey! C'mon. Sit down. I'm about to start, kids." The remote clicked as it turned on the projection onto the white screen and the continuous hum from the machines.

His first mission – Rosaire’s heart was pounding as he nervously entered the room; filled with a bubbling mix of emotions, all wrapped up in a veil of excitement. Would it be dangerous? Would it be hard? Would it be grand? Would it be a lifetime of work? Would it be fun? Would it be terrifying? It could be anything… the young boy had never really been involved in the Church’s work behind the scenes; and only heard the organisation’s internal reports on such matters – it sounded like every mission worked out well! Aside from the occasional injury and talk of heretics, at least… still, it would be an honour in-of itself to be harmed in the name of the Lord and his flock! Squirrelling in ahead of the others with his eagerness, the blonde-haired boy’s habit fluttered around him as he darted up to the Clergyman’s desk before it settled once more; framing Rosaire’s troubled look. ”U-Um, Father… I just wanted to say… it’ll be an honour serving you today!” squeaked the Apostle, before hastily bounding off to his desk – did he say too much? Would he think Rosaire was a suck up now? Was he acting too unprofessional? The boy’s heart pounded even harder… He couldn’t mess up now! Nodding as the Clergyman made his remark, Rosaire hastily took a seat; all too tempted to pour over the files in front of him – but patience was a virtue. Surely it would be rude to read while his superior had something to say. Giving a heavy sigh to try and calm himself, Rosaire awkwardly glanced around his company… hopefully they didn’t think he was too weird or girly already… what if he already got kicked out?! Trying to settle himself, Rosaire ran through a few prayers in his head; his heart gradually slowing. Well, that left what the mission was about to worry about… helping out the poor and impoverished? Healing the sick and weak? Saving some unlucky unbelievers from the paths of temptations? Organising a major Church ceremony? Aah, he hoped it was the last one… he’d love to play organ or sing in front of a grand crowd! Surely the Lord would smile on such art… it made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The boy smiled serenely as he waited for the briefing, seeming lost in his thoughts…

Next to greet the ageing clergyman was a dark-haired girl, stepping in with a bright smile and a courteous bow. Ekaterina had little reason to be concerned with briefings, having attended many in the past - often in places far less furnished that this hall amidst the heart of the holy city. Truth be told, the glory of the Vatican still awed the apostle from the Urals, and it certainty did not help calm her nerves. A fact that was somewhat betrayed by the anxiety that stained her typically confident smile, though her concerns were less about the situation, rather than the task at hand. Having been temporarily taken off the roster for more clandestine actions, Kat worried about fitting in with her new environment.
Everything seemed so enforcing, even the name of their old cleric did not sound familiar. All she knew was that this Father Marchesi was devout servant of the Lord - as all in his office are - but Kat was concerned with his expectations? Would she be able to meet them? Would she even understand what he expected? Each question was enough reason to stay at home and sulk, but the girl could not ignore a call to serve, and took some solace in the familiar weight around her waist. A weapon hidden beneath her habit was always a comforting thought, despite being a slightly uncomfortable reality.
Taking a deep breath, she collected her thoughts and tried to shift her thoughts to optimism. Just as she did, a high-pitched voice shattered the awkward silence with a comment of how much of an honour serving the Lord was. Ekaterina turned her focus to the enthusiastic girl with a renewed smile. The girl in the rather cutesy blue habit could not have been close to her age, or at least certainly not any older than she was, but she managed to move forward with nothing held back despite her own case of anxiety.
"Good morning, father." She exclaimed, managing to keep a casual smile on her expression. Feeling all the tension drain away, she took the seat closest to the enthusiastic apostle and looked around after giving the girl a thankful nod, whether or not she would have noticed. To her surprise, everything seemed far less peculiar now, and one of the group actually looked almost familiar. Kat couldn't remember her name, but she was sure that she had seen the older woman before. At that point, her smile had just about fully returned. Dragging the envelop closer, she waited for someone to speak.

What a pain in the ass, thought Sigi. She had to get into this mission of all missions, knowing that she didn't need any more headaches than before. Cruising over in a case of being relaxed, what with having her days off in tropical locales as an assassin of sorts. But seeing this is an open suited mission, she opted not to come in as a member of the Judas' Order, but just your mild mannered sister, with mild mannered aspirations, like taking long walks in the beach, which further reinforced her attire to be the vestments of a nun. Agent Speculo, as loathe she was to keep that nickname around, considering its similarity to another thing meant for... the exploration of female private parts in the name of exploration, had entered the room. A rather modest looking one. Well, that was boring. Sigi just wanted to be done and over with this whole ordeal, and did not find much of a heart to protest against these conditions. It honestly wasn't going to be a problem, seeing how she didn't plan to stick around for long.
As the last arrival, Sigi would be greeted with the sight of three. An old crusty man whom seemed to probably be a disaffected member of Generation X, some cute little blonde girl that'd put other girls to shame, and then the third one. She didn't let her thoughts seep out about what she truly believed of the third one, as regulations would have it, it was only on a need to know basis. Whichever the case, she was a late arrival, thus did not find herself bearing witness to the heedless talks of Rosaire, nor the greetings coming from the 'Other One'. Someone whom she could only recall from the vaguest corners of her memories, but nothing more of that.
Making her way finally inside, after entertaining her ruminations with a dumb silence about her, which was expressed through staring at the rest of the rooms, the habit wearing Sigi went up to the seat in the farthest of backs, and saddled herself on the chair. She didn't realize her introspection made her look weird, what with staring at everyone with a look less appraising, and a lot more creepy, what with her eyes inspecting every details. Hopefully it wouldn't come back to bite her in the ass with first impressions. Those were often important, and the last thing she wanted to be labeled, was a pedophile. Now THAT would be a horrible thing, as she didn't need that sort of attention.
"Good morning everyone, Father, Sisters, fellow followers of the Lord. Is not today a wonderful day to give alms, give thanks to the Almighty for his generous bounties, and purge all manners of heretics in an incandescent fire of righteous fury to overcome our deep harbored frustrations? I certainly believe so." She greeted cordially with a jesting tone about her, before retaining her silence with a relaxed cool about her. In other words, she was totally being polite.

Facino Marchesi The older Clergyman glanced at each present member in this small presentation room. They numbered three in total. A modest, yet workable number that would see to making this mission from the Vatican a success. All of these girls Hunters were very young, at least one looked very impressionable as he nodded back in greeting with his lips still curled into a smile. This one "Sister" didn't exactly inspire much confidence in him, but if this is what the Vatican was giving him, then this is what he is working with. Nevertheless, he just couldn't seem to make much sense of "Sister" LeBeau's appearance. He just gave up and resigned himself that this motley group is going to pull through one way or the other. He started to rise from his seat and held the remote in one hand about to press on a button to start the presentation. "It's funny how you mention 'purging heretics', Sister Nachspeise," Facino replied nonchalantly, "Because that's exactly what you're all going to do." The slide shifted to the face of a man in a scarlet top-hat. It was regal and potentially full of arrogance if given the chance. The veteran Clergyman frowned at that face as if it were something distasteful. But he stopped there and looked back at the trio that sat for this presentation. "Our target is Roland Lippert, another... loathsome heretic of the Guild," he began, "Our main interest for your task is that he researches demons without any form of accountability from the Guild." The slide moved to the next to show the ruined remains of a city. "We have hard evidence that already points Lippert of being involved with the Demon Outbreak in Munich. We've found his Workshop and many of the demons that attacked resemble a lot of his... unfortunate test subjects." His weary old face turned grim at the memory. It was such heresy, yes. But that was a massive understatement for a cesspool of such evil abomination. So many lives were twisted as they moaned for a release from these grotesque monstrous forms. "Now we have tracked him down in San Francisco. Our fellow Brothers at Saint Dominic's have sent us these reports in the folders you have before you." He gestured at the closed manila folders that lay before each fellow Clergyman member. If they are opened, they show pictures of the Magician's presence in San Francisco. Others shows a picture of an old abandoned warehouse. It was perfect for being inconspicuous. No one would really approach it, except maybe a number of homeless, hoodlum, and delinquents. But those would be free test subjects for Lippert's research. "Saint Dominic's will serve as your base of operations in San Francisco. Father Collins will provide all the information and equipment you may or may not need for this task. Now. Any questions?"

Rosaire just gave a pleasant smile back upon being met with a modest nod from the Clergyman, glad he hadn’t messed up yet – as far as he knew, anyway. Soon the room grew a little more abuzz with the appearance of the other two sisters of the Church. The younger one certainly seemed cute, and seemed to be about as excited and nervous as Rosaire himself as she sat down beside him, leaving the boy a little bashful upon getting the eager nod of thanks. The other lady, certainly the oldest of the three, was a bit curious; but it would be nice to have a professional about. Though, did she have to sit all the way at the back? It was a tiny bit unnerving… The talk of ‘purging heretics’ immediately earned a nervous frown from poor Rosaire, unsurprisingly not having quite expected this sort of topic to show up – err, maybe he meant it as a metaphor for converting people? But, someone who researched demons… and had led to such a disaster, too? He even looked the part of a villain… while Rosaire was naïve, he wasn’t stupid. Well, too stupid. The talk of test subjects didn’t exactly fly over his head. ”T-That really is abhorrent…” mumbled the boy meekly, looking about as troubled as his superior. Checking over the files as prompted, Rosaire just looked a bit mournful as he took on what was going to be his first mission – this was kind of jumping in the deep end, wasn’t it?! M-Maybe they’d put him in the wrong division…? Erk, probably best to just go with the flow. He couldn’t let down the Lord after he’d put this much faith in his potential! This was his chance to prove himself! B-Besides, maybe the man himself wasn’t going to be there… it’d just be a rescue mission! That’d be nice! Playing hero would be amazing… but playing hitman; not so much. ”E-Er, Father… Do we know anything about his… capabilities? Beyond the outbreak? Or, if he has any allies involved… though I doubt someone like that has many friends…” asked Rosaire, glancing over the folder again before raising his eyes meekly up to his superior again; ”I’m going to hazard a guess that it’s not going to be healing…”

Hearing the long-winded greeting from the older woman made Ekaterina actually frown, if only for a moment. Of all the ways to serve the Lord, giving alms was not something she was looking forward to. It was certainly a noble endeavour, but gaming was not a cheap hobby; particularly on the meager allowance that she received. While faith was supposed to be its own reward, but giant robots dropping from space had a special place in her heart. On the other hand, purging heretics with the "incandescent fire of righteous fury" just seemed uncomfortable - a tank of napalm was difficult to hide and carry around. It did make her feel somewhat better that she did not seem alone, given that the girl beside her also wore a frown.
Luckily, the ageing clergyman quickly explained that they had been tasked with something that was more familiar: dispatching heretics in more traditional methods. While, mages from the Guild were not her usual targets, but could be dispatched with a few well placed bullets and some preparation - dangerous, but nothing special. Demons, on the other hand, was a foreign idea altogether but that did not worry the girl as much as it would have others. They were inhuman blasphemies, and simply had to be purged. Might as well have been by their hands. Might as well have been done in the name of His glory.
Looking at the picture of their target, her thoughts were pretty simple. "He does look the part, yes?" The girl mused aloud with a stifled chuckle, making note of the flamboyant scarlet that their target draped around himself. It almost seemed that the man tried to look as arrogant as he could. Her smile was reinforced by the thought that there was no room for uncertainty in this mission, unlike some of the others before, it was simple. She wouldn't have bothered with the folder underneath her arms, if Father Marchesi has not gestured towards them.
Given that the logistics for the mission had already been explained, flipping through the pages of the dossier did not raise any important questions from the apostle. That being said, abandoned buildings were often gathering places for any who lived in the shadow of civilization, which was important for some of her previous handlers - while not worth the breath to mention for others. Raising her hand for propriety, Ekaterina inquired as to which category the grey-haired priest belonged to. "What are the rules of engagement, Father? How much collateral damage is acceptable?" It didn't quite matter to the girl, although if the man did have allies, as the girl in blue suspected, it would have been more convenient to have her finger on the trigger.

If anything, what surprised Sigi most was how seriously her insincere words were taken, from what she could see from the erstwhile father's face. Well, she was told that if her gig in the Church did not work out, she could always opt to be a comedian by her instructors. She heard that she can make a killing in the field, and by killing, mostly stabbing heretics for laughing at her jokes, only to laugh about it later. That sort of gung-ho attitude she doesn't really care much or espouse, really. Sometimes. Alright, perhaps whenever it is convenient, she's not really picky about these sorts of things, as the situation tends to demand her to do things above the call of duty, such as... ahem, gambling in a den of inequity to pull up her cover as an uninvolved pedestrian, which so conveniently happens to be her off duty hours. That sort of thing... yes, that's what she tells herself.
Paying attention to the slides, like any good agents would, Nachspiese noticed the man stuck about several generations in the past with his Victorian fashion, probably a goofball with the same fashion sense as teenagers whom fancy fedoras, in that sense, except he went the extra mile and actually wear an entire apparel which just screams out villain. Well, that aside, he was obviously a member of the Magician's Guild, not a wizard, but a mage. Wizards tend to be classier, what with their snazzy wide brimmed hats, loose robes, and their antics that often end up gaining the ire of their loved ones when revealing their vocations. Probably through putting on a wizard hat and robe, as a huge tip off.
Mental pontification aside, the Judas Agent noted all features about the man's vain face that seems to be staring out at the photographer in some quieted disdain, from that ridiculous hair do which she needed to do a double take to realize he was a male, rather than an overly masculine female, all the way to that huge nose which would make Jackie Chan jealous. One thing's for certain, Sigi likes that hat, even if it looks goofy on the Victorian-ish Magician. That, and the odds of a male masquerading as female, or female masquerading as male, is pretty slim. Especially in this room, no doubt. It would be ridiculously silly if someone here was in fact a male acting as a female. But then again... that priest, Father Marchesi, he's a bit on the feminine side, maybe. One can never know, and must be paranoid in these times.
Well, looks like everyone asked their question, and Sigi had little to add. Instead, she found the folder laid in front of her more interesting to look at, flipping through the glossaries. That, and they can always ask questions over in the field, when the situation becomes more readily apparent. Father Collins would have a more indepth explanation no doubt, for now, it is merely operational talks that she should concern herself with, and well, all that's handled. What with the two Sisters and their questions.
"At least it's hard to miss the guy." Nachspiese commented with an amused drawl, "But hey, makes the job easier for us... I suppose, his Magecraft not withstanding."

Facino Marchesi Marchesi nodded his head at the precocious-appearing Rosaire as he grimly smiled, "From the reports, he just seems to be another "scholar" from the Guild. There are no records of any involvement in their Enforcement units. I believe we can safely say that Lippert alone would likely not last very long in a conflict. Reports of our fellow brothers say that he knows some rudimentary offensive spells and wouldn't be too much of a trouble to deal with. The slideshow shifted to a new slide showing other monstrosities that seem to be occupying the space of an alleyway alongside with what was apparently another Hunter of the Church confronting it with the sharp hallowed steel of a Funeral Nail. The slide clicked in another clearer image of another grotesque and fleshy monstrosity with what is clearly a pair of vampiric fangs and crimson eyes, both the usual tell-tale signs of a vampire. "As far as what he's capable after the Munich Outbreak? We have no exact idea, but we are sure that his demonic creations are something that can't be taken lightly. Obviously with his talents, Le Fléau d'Orléans would want to recruit him. We have already sent many of our fellow brothers and sisters to intercept them and sent them a clear message to... fuck off."There was a ghost of a smile as the priest uttered such an expletive, but he said nothing more about as he again clicked to move on. Images of San Francisco appeared on the screen, but so did the remains of several kills. There clearly were puddles of scarlet on the concrete with mutilated bodies. Marchesi quickly clicked past each slide until coming up with a blank one. He cleared his throat before continuing, "This now brings us back to San Francisco as our little heretic has no friends that we know of that he could rely on. But his little test subjects have been drawing a lot of attention from the I.A.C.S.B. and they probably are sending a few of their agents right now. Our branch of faith, the Saint Dominic's, is in a bit of a power struggle with the Global Homeless Association and a branch of the Court of Fangs in the city. It is best that you do not try to draw any attention to yourselves when you commit to the mission. But do what you must to take Lippert down. We don't want another Outbreak after all. With another click, the slideshow showed a pitch black dark and an alert saying the presentation ended. The mechanical humming ceased with another press of the button. "As of this moment, Lippert may have several hideouts in the city. Saint Dominic's will send several teams to seek out Lippert in these places and you three will make up one of these teams. Collins will inform you of other information if needed. So, anything else?"

”C-Collateral damage?” squeaked the poor ‘sister’ to himself, unsurprisingly more than a little baffled by the suggestion – was there such a thing as ‘acceptable’ collateral damage in the first place?! And these two were acting so amused by all this! This mustn’t be their first mission, to say the least… it seemed like they were just eager to be on the hunt. W-Well, Rosaire wasn’t against dealing with heretics; especially ones this vile; but snuffing out sinners wasn’t something to be happy about! The Lord was all about forgiveness, wasn’t he? Right?! The father’s own bemusement hardly helped the poor boy, although having more information was at least kind of helpful… too bad it was all bad news for them. The I.A.C.S.B.; people who thought it was fine to befriend demons; and the Court of Fangs; monsters that considered themselves human… why couldn’t they be purging them instead or something? Humans could find forgiveness and redemption and change; but monsters would always be monsters, no matter what clothes or face they wore. Rosaire knew that much firsthand… ”I think that’s plenty… o-oh, um; will we be rendevouzing with the other teams or anything? Or should this just be like our own mission?” asked the boy awkwardly, trying his best to keep up some sort of guise of dignity in the face of all this awful stuff. ”It’s probably not wise to tarry if he could just move on… or make something new.”

"Apparently we do not have room for that for this mission, sister." The apostle from the Urals frowned, misunderstanding the concern in the voice of her counterpart. "U-Understood, father."
Eliminate the heretic without attracting too much attention. Simple enough in theory, but required a degree of subtlety and finesse. Unfortunately for Ekaterina, neither were talents she had in abundance. Sure, it was easy enough to blend into the background while waiting for the signal. Once it was given however, the girl was more akin to a blunt instrument rather than a precision tool. She started to worry, but her faith in her handlers was second only to her faith in the Lord. Surely there must have been a reason she was chosen to serve on this mission - it couldn't have been choice made in ignorance. Comforting thoughts, but it would have been nice to have the luxury of seeing everything down the cold barrel of her machine gun - even if it wasn't loaded.
This may not have been her first mission, but it was certainly shaping up to be one of the more difficult ones. A faithless heretic was one thing, but demons and two powerful vampire covens? Unlike her superiors, Ekaterina did not play politics, but even she knew that things were becoming complicated. She wasn't scared - if Lord called for martyrs, then she would answer - rather the girl was haunted by thoughts of failure, of needlessly putting others where she should have stood. It was nothing new, it was almost a familiar fear, one that she wrestled with every time she reported to a stranger. Fortunately, this time the unwavering apathy of the third member of their group and the cautious resolve of the sister-in-blue, served as an anchor for her faltering confidence.
Taking a shallow breath to calm herself, she agreed with the younger looking apostle. "I agree. I see no more reason to delay, unless... o-our eldest sister has anything else to add." With the introductions skipped for now, Ekaterina cautiously referred to the eldest of their number as respectfully as she could.

The one consolation Sigi had was that there was no involvement of Dryads, or Vines, or any plants around in this mission. She shuddered as she recalled details of her mission in that fateful night, as the trauma still ran sour from what wounds she incurred, and none of which were physical. But ah well, one lives and one dies, and she wasn't even SURE that vines could even DO what happened back then. Ignoring her non-important thoughts and pushing them aside, she nodded and made for displays of paying attention to the Father's wise words of wisdom, sparing a sideward glance to Rosaire, as she shook her head with a smile. It seems like they may have a green person on the field, but if things go right in this mission, if it all goes smoothly, which is a big IF, Sigi was certain that the girl's supposed innocence would not be tarnished drastically. A little dose of optimism from what she saw, which often comes interchangeable with inflected naivety, was in short supply in the Church, an institution that is dour and grim, all with brimstone and talks of damnation, forgetting that the smallest of joys and hope can be beneficial. However, she was guilty, guilty of such thoughts, dark with harboured cynicism.
Standing off her seat, Sister Nachspiese adjusted her nun's habit that sagged with friction, pulling against a tug as she pops out a wedgie, grunting as it was veritably hindering her no longer, with a feeling of liberation one gets when their crack is no longer singing with the bristling discomfort of cloth kissing skin ever so closely. Truly, a menace worse than any heretics, now slain with but a pull of a hand against the soft cotton fabric, not standard issue of course.
When the word eldest sister speared Sigi's ears, the woman inclined her gaze away from the folder she once stared at, and her attention that lain upon her hind, and unto the source of the one's lilting voice, somber with trials and heavy with sweetness, with her own green eyed stare, her lips curved with a twitch to being referred to as old, as inwardly, she lamented being designated such a title. She was not OLD, she was youthful, and hip, perhaps still in the springtime of her nubile form at that too, but those little girls can't see that as they were immature, Sigi told herself. Reigning in whatever turmoil of hurt youthful ego from spilling out of her features, as naught but the evenness of her expression came with the most neutral of appearance, aside from the smile.
"Only one thing." Her voice picked up with velvety honey and a light humoured rise, peppered with her Swiss accent, "I like his hat. I think I'll take it as loot." She fixes the hem of her habit, chuckling as she does so, "You'll find no further questions from me, so, let us be off? Time's a wasting, and I doubt Herr Lippert is kind enough to wait for us kill him. Heretics can be quite... inconsiderate like that, I must say."

Facino Marchesi Father Marchesi grimly smiled at Sister Nachspeise's remark about the hat. Lippert certainly does have a nice hat, that much the Hunter had to admit. But hats does not make a man's own morals. "Yes, that is all. However, I would like both Sisters Nachspeise and Morozov to stay here. I have something to discuss with you both. Brother LeBeau, you may be dismissed."He nodded at Rosaire to leave. The door would close on him as the Apostle left. What went on inside would only be known to both Nachspeise and Morozov. OOC:Bit of a short post, but I got a longer opening post for your actual mission. I'll edit the link in once I post that in. Also Nilvas Garcia is joining the Hunt. Enjoy~ Mission is up!
