MISSIONS
Missions are the core of what must be accomplished in order to progress as a character. While they are not the only way to progress your characters abilities, they are the most effective way to earn Improvements. Missions are story line centered objectives that characters must complete to gain credit for a successful mission. These story lines might be driven by staff and based off of plot events, or may be made up and played out by Members. Both styles of quests give credit, and there's nothing to say they can't overlap. Missions can have their own dedicated threads towards achieving the objective, or they can be a completed in other threads. Players can complete multiple Missions in a single thread if there is enough overlap. Threads dedicated to the completion of a Mission that involves elements of DMing [Such as controlling NPCs/Enemies/etc] will fall on the creator of the mission to act as DM.
Rules:
- A player can have up to 4 Missions at once.
- Players can drop a Mission at any time, or be kicked from one at the Creator's digression.
- The max capacity of people whom can take a specific mission is up to the Creator. [Plot centric ones will usually be unlimited.]
- The time limit to join the quest is also up to the Creator. Some missions will require the characters to sign up before it begins, although others might be open to new recruits all throughout. [Note that Joining late might get you less rewards.]
- If a Mission is too short or someone seems to be trying to 'stack' or 'farm' Missions, you might get reduced or no rewards for completing them. The goal here is to have objectives/arcs for your characters to go through IC, not to go kill 20 ghouls over and over again so you can get phat l00t.
MISSION RANKS AND CATEGORIES
Ranks:
- S: Guaranteed death for all Tiers. Do not expect to come back out alive.
- A: This mission will reek with danger unlike all of the others. Even those of the highest tiers may not be fully guaranteed survival and will need to stay on their toes. It is suggested to finish this task as a group. Elder Vampires, Golden Werewolves, High Class Demons, and Elementals may come up in such missions.
- B: This mission will require proper preparation and group cohesion if you are partnered with others. The chances of failure as a solo mission is great. Powerful vampires of a couple hundreds of years are common here. Rumor Board will get even more vague about the hints here. Be careful. Any lower may mean certain death and might end up as excess baggage.
- C: This is the point where you may need back-up. It's become very difficult to the point that you're dealing with higher-end vampires and dangerous werewolves. Information is scarce about the task. This is the point where you'll need to rely more on the Rumor Board. You may lose your life here if you are not careful.
- D: This is where missions will get difficult and convoluted. But not too dangerous if you stay on your toes. You may deal with vampires and ghouls or other enemies around that danger level. This is the usually a harder level for most grunts in the factions. Normal humans can probably finish this task if well-equipped.
- E: The tasks that can be somewhat reasonably completed. Possibly only filling out online requests. While there is some danger, enough preparation shouldn't be much for any average member of the factions, which you probably are. You may also probably confront street thugs of both human and supernatural nature. So be careful.
PARTNERING UP
You may take on Missions with others. The reward will be given equally to each member in the party involved with the mission. On some cases you make allow people outside of your group to join. If Church Agents were to take up on a mission, they may allow some human or someone outside of the Church to join. When you do this, the reward will be a little bit different in money.
If the mission is targeted for Church Agents, then those outside of the Church can be paid less. If the mission is targeted for Magi, then those outside of the Magus Association are paid less. This means they will only receive less money by a rank. If Person A is outside of the Church and works with Person B for a Church Mission of A rank, he's only getting B rank amounts of reward. Of course, the item that is included in the reward won't change at all and will remain the same.
However, do not expect to simply work with just anyone for a Mission. Remember that vampires are generally the Church's enemy. So you will never really see a vampire participating in a Mission with an Agent. It's only really common sense.
